I did this years ago. It doesn't matter how you print the image. You can take any picture, even cut one from a magazine. It's the stuff you put on it that makes it work. Some of the comments complaining or even asking for you to hold their hand are annoying. I appreciate you giving this content to us free of charge.

As an adaptation to this have you tried using water slide decals printed with a pigment inkjet printer or laser printer? It gets rid of the rubbing stage and possibly the coats of glue on the canvas and the transparent decal. A spray sealant might be a better overcoat. Of course the other option is to get a large inkjet printer that can print to canvas. For smaller letter/legal size inkjet printers there is printable canvas & fabric sheets usually found in craft stores. Use some tiling/poster software to split a single large image into smaller sections. This would allow you to create the look of a larger piece using existing printers.

Everything went well, until after the 10 minutes of heating with the hair dryer/box, I wet the canvas with the damp dry cloth and started the finger rub to start removing the paper - but only to see I was also rubbing out the image. Should I have waited longer for it to dry or was I rubbing the paper too hard? Thank you!
@powertexaustralia9230 Жыл бұрын
Hey Joe it sounds like you used an inkjet print... the print needs to be a laser print (pigment based) usually a colour photocopy at the print shops is a laser print... Because the inkjet is waterbed it will wash away and become like a watercolour... 😜 let me know how you go....
@powertexaustralia9230 Жыл бұрын
Joe ... if the image is coming off the canvas and you used a laser print (so it hasn't transferred) it can be: 1. the surface of the canvas wasn't prepared properly (primed with gesso) 2. the solution dried while you were doing the transfer process (working faster will resolve this)... I hope that helps... 😜 Have FUN!!!!🎨🎨🎨

First time I did it it came out ok but not as vivid in color,the 2nd time I wet it too much and took some of the photo off the canvas. This will be my 3rd time trying; which is why I went looking for someone else to show me the how to. First two times I just followed instructions I read with no video.

the photo is printed on a laser printer (colour photocopier) onto regular photocopy paper 80-100GSM … you can use any canvas and transfer onto many other surfaces using Powerprint transfer medium from Powertex Art Supplies... I finish it with Easycoat Glossy or Matt also available from Powertex ☺I hope that’s helpful

Hey Dug Thanks for your question... you should find the print quality good for bisque fired tiles as they're more porous... glazed tile are less porous / more slippery so it may pay to key the surface ... you will find you need some practice first so practice on a range of surfaces... I'd just try the tiles and see if the result is satisfactory for your needs... theres always a way ☺

Hi what kind of photo are you using? Is it from a magazine? Or a photocopy one can do from a normal printer? Thanks. Love your hat by the way 🤗
