Enjoy your weather - we're in the midst of "snowmageddon" in Minnesota. 18-20"+ of snow - wind howling, drifting snow - it's a mess. Good day for sewing as long as we keep power. I don't envy you your water heater disaster, it's the worst and always happens at the most inopportune time.

Becky, you really shouldn't be stacking things close to the ac/furnace unit. They need air to run plus that's a big fire hazard. Please double check with your local ac expert to see what he says. Here in Kansas, that's a hughe no no! Want you to be safe!

Saw on a Reel, people using a base for an office chair and a pole to move batting around, so don't get rid of extra chair! Thanks for these fun unboxings

I've seen that too. The problem is the footprint for the chair is more floor space than I'm willing to give up.

Our water heater is over 20 yrs old also. In Oregon we have to have a pan under the heater and the heater has to be strapped to the wall.

They never had to be strapped to the wall before code insisted they be up on a box (lazy plumbers who don't want to get down on their hands and knees to drain it). LOL :-D

Keep the chair base to stand your bolt of wadding on. Makes for easy movement AND off the floor.
@PowerToolsWithThread
@PowerToolsWithThread Жыл бұрын
I looked at that because I've heard of that trick before. This base had a wide round metal footrest that stuck out several inches over the circumference of the wheels. The footprint of the base was just too big for my space - I have two big rolls of batting (wadding). Also, it was all greasy so I decided to let it go.

@@PowerToolsWithThread in my old fabric (small) shop, my husband made wheelies for all of my wadding bolts. Just an “X “ of wood the circumference of a bolt with castors - they make great dancing partners too 🤣

So sorry about your water heater, during the video I saw that you had an old office chair, and your rolled batting up on whatever. You can take the bottom of the old office chair and use a pickle bucket lid for a base and an metal pole or rod. I think it was on Pat Sloans page where someone's husband made for her batting rolls. Maybe add it to Keith's honey do list ? Haha. Thank you for all you both do and share!

@PowerToolsWithThread Жыл бұрын
Sure! Here it is. I would recommend keeping it indoors. It lasts longer. It has a 3/8" line in so Keith had to do some creative downsizing from the input pipe to the line into the machine. Then we put the drain line from the machine that goes into the AC drain that goes to the outside. amzn.to/3INZ3HC

The quilt blocks behind you are just gorgeous. Love all the new items you shared with us. You are so blessed to have a hubby who can take care of disasters like this. Oh my the cost of a plumber! 😳
@PowerToolsWithThread
@PowerToolsWithThread Жыл бұрын
We do have a plumber that works on our rental property in San Antonio and Keith had asked me to call him. He was busy and couldn't get to us before Keith got home. But yes, we talked to a friend of ours who needed a new water heater and he was charged almost $2k. I think that plumbers have to know all the new code compliance rules and they are required to also bring the install up to code. This can include putting it up on a box, strapping it to a wall, special pan, special wiring, etc. Then add time, travel, et al and next thing you know, the $509 water heater from HD is $2k! Thanks for your kind thoughts. :)

Just watched. Great as usual. The water heater replacement was great too. That kind of work has to be done by professionals where I live in Scotland because our house insurance will not cover in the event of a disaster if completed even by the best handyman. Any work done by electricians/plumbers give a certificate of work which the house insurance people require if making a claim. My husband is a Keith and it frustrates him. About the Mylar. Does it melt/harden when washed? Love all my girls and guys on you tube land. Even Bernina Jeff and I don’t own a Bernina !!!!'!!!!!!!!!!!. Watch you, Pat, Lori , Kimberly, the 3ladies from Missouri, Jen, Tiffany and Becca all the time and loads more occasionally. Can someone tell me if Quilt in a Day are still doing videos.? Started watching them at the beginning and love Eleanor and crew. Haven’t seen much of her since lockdown lifted.

Ha! No, the water heater wasn't plugged in so shocking wasn't possible. That's not to say he hasn't worked on a ceiling fan without first turning off the circuit breaker and got a zap. Learned his lesson. But he doesn't play with 220. Thanks for the concern! You're sweet!

@PowerToolsWithThread
@PowerToolsWithThread Жыл бұрын
You will only be able to open designs that fit in a 4x4 hoop. If a design is larger than a 4x4, like this margarita design, your machine can't stitch it out because there's not enough throat space for the hoop to move around that much. If you are ready to upgrade, I recommend you 'at LEAST' get a machine that can handle a 6x10 hoop. That will do you well to do most commercial designs. I have the combo (sewing/embroidery) version of this machine and it's awesome! shrsl.com/3yhth
