This was bold endeavour. One of a kind. Projects of such magnitude definitely needs buy-in from a lot of stakeholders. The place looks well planned and beautiful. Most of the Indian cities are built with lack of any such consideration. Environmental laws have mostly been used as means to get back at political opponents. India needs and deserves better infrastructure. I think the visionary of the project had a noble cause- bringing an experience for the Indians. He could have very easily spent all of this time in Portofino by himself, but he wanted us to experience what he experience somewhere else. But of course, the means of achieving the goal cannot be justified.

Yes even when I visited Lavasa in 2018, there was nothing no one were living there some of the restaurants were closed and even Boating, swimming every other activities were closed. so we asked on shopkeeper that why is everything was closed so he told that building it so luxurious much sums money was wasted and even there was no single drop of water or hospitality at this place and people became less to visit the place as it was very deep inside Pune. But the structure roads and every thing looked beautiful and that`s the reason in the past it was called as Mini Italy.

As an environmental civil engineer, I propose to go for sustainable development and construction in the area such as mud house and artificial forest. Definitely the Italy dream can be achieved but since it is happening in India one should keep this scenario in mind as well. Development doesn't always have to be against nature. I think lavasa needs better EIA expert as well as better civil engineers.
