He's probably on a cruise ship somewhere, still waiting to be allowed off.

This song is accompanying me on my final journey into the flames- when I will finally get to ask God 'why am I, the man I am'?

Am I the only one who, despite this being obviously amusing, finds it moving?

Nope. Me too. It's a combination of both. Tony's not happy, he's alone - very much like Partridge is. It's all hidden in plain sight and I love this writing style.

Steve Coogan/Tony Ferrino actually has a very good voice - this song is great.

Trivia: You'll spot the name Martin Coogan in the song credits. He's Steve's older brother, a professional musician and music producer, and member of Manchester band The Mock Turtles who were quite big in the late 80s/early 90s "Madchester" scene. So that explains why the songs are quite good actually.

Shame it panned critically, I really found it funny and still do. They showed it earlier tonight on GOLD satalite/digital channel in the UK...this is my favourite of all the songs on it perfectly lampooning any 1970s/80s crooner...

It wouldn't surprise me if half of the stuff Tony's claiming to have done is what Coogan actually HAS done.

Tony Ferrino had potential. Pity Steve didn't continue this particular character. I found it quite funny :)

You could almost put this in the they-don't-make-them-like-that-anymore column. Brilliant performance of course, great vision for the character, and, significantly, real production values too. The whole show LOOKED amazing. Rather than cheap parody, they achieved a warmhearted pastiche, and it's so much more enjoyable that way. Comedy has moved on, and even if it's still funny, it hasn't always been to a better place.

You're absolutely right - a live orchestra, dancers (choreographed by Bruno Tonioli!), and recorded in TC1 when TVC was still alive with activity and in its full glory... it'll never happen again.
