his foot crossed the center line of the net when he hadn't hit the ball. You're allowed to cross the net line only if you hit the ball first.

I know it is traditional with a lefty/righty partnership to have forehands in the middle, but the men's doubles game has so much dinking, maybe it would be good to try forehands on the outside for easier dinking.

two backhands in the middle would make putaways a lot more difficult, and I think for most pros that tradeoff isn't worth it.

The problem is not the pushing off from the kitchen, it's whether you have both feet established on the non-kitchen part of the court, which he did have in this case after pushing off from kitchen territory

@@idunn0739 If this comment is referencing the call at about 7:44, it wasn't about stepping in the kitchen. The fault was for Patriquin's left foot crossing the plane of the net (basically crossing slightly into the other side of the court) without him making contact with the ball. It can happen on Ernie attempts. The call was correct.
