I always hesitated spending money on anything like PPF or Ceramic coating. I always had a notion that these are marketing & money making gimmicks. But when I researched about both then I realised that PPF somewhat is good practical option if you want to protect your car's paint for the long term.
This paint protection film, a kind of plastic TPU sheet protects your car's paint against pebbles, acidic rain, bird poops, swirl marks and small brush ups with fellow vehicles on the road. It has thickness of around 40-60 microns that gives an extra layer of physical safety and keeps your car paint in tact.
I went for Venture Shield 3M PPF (TPU) which had a price tag of Rs 790 per square feet. Total covered area was around 70 feet which included bonnet, bumpers, fenders, headlights, side mirrors, door handles, door corners and quarter area.

In my opinion PPF is done for off road cars and ceramic for on road & dark coloured cars . PPF helps in swivelling and Ceramic is water & dust repellent and consumes less water while washing . PPF is basically thin sheet wrapping . I have done ceramic coating on my Slavia 1.5 TSI with DSG , deep black elegance edition purchased on 28/1/24 . It is looking classy . 3M ceramic coating costed me Rs15K by my well known detailing person!

I will be glad & thankful if you may please clarify my few queries: 1 - Is PPF suggested for Candy White Vento? Yellowish effect expected? 2 - As you suggested if one goes for portions of car which is liable to get scratches in traffic, will it show any shade differences overall? 3 - If there are some minor scratches, though not deep ones, getting it coated with PPF might make the scratches more prominent. Thanks Sir 1) Yes go for 3M Venture Shield PPF TPU 2) VW paint & 3M TPU are high quality, neither will fall pale 3) So in this case, just get PPF again for this portion. It is infact good that PPF took impact & protected paint, imagine without PPF impact. 4) Yes, pros should remove it, not us.

But chip marks will be there on the PPF and would be visible. Similar is the case with bird droppings etc.. It is true that the paint may be protected but it would still be visible on the PPF. This would make sense only at the time of resale but as to how much of additional amount the buyer will pay for perfect paint needs to be seen. No point spending upwards of 1 lac on ppf. Also there is no guarantee that the paint will not peel off when you eventually remove it.

I have a Tigor XZ+ white color. As of May 2022, it has been 6 months for my car. I went to 3 M for ppf quotation. And they said it would cost 1.1 -1.2 lakhs for the ppf of 950 rupees. My car costs 9 lakhs on road btw. And I saw a video on KZbin of brotomotiv where they change colors of cars. I have heard it would cost almost the same 1.5 lakh approx in changing the color. So I dropped the plan of ppf and I am ready tp paint it in Candy red after 3 years in 2025 and keep it as a city car and buy Avinya for long range drives. 😁

I think PPF is not a waste of money. Prevention is always better than cure right!. It will protect our vehicles from small scratches for sure. Country side drives are always very interesting and u know roads are not perfect and are narrow (mostly) sides full of small tree branches no doubt there are chances our car say hi 😅 to those branches/palants if we give space for others to pass, some simply spit out one thing that with the installation cost repainting is possible damn!,.. just after a small scratch repaint the panel is the option for many 😅. For those who don't care about the car it's a waste of money.

Earlier also i commented that you can go for PPF from Very Good Local installers for quite a lot less. PPF self healing films like Avery Denisen (made in usa), LLumar & Saint Gobain can be installed for 40-45000 for a car of Seltos size. We have got it done it on black seltos almost a year back & is going great. 3M charges a lot for the same & there are better quality Films available in market at much less price 3M charges. Btw i live in your city only...

1000 units per year imported only so you won't find on roads. Ones who know about cars know that it's an insult to T-Roc when compared with Creta. T-Roc can go anywhere where all other Psuedo non 4*4 SUVs can go. Last year it sold like hot cakes, so does this year. Fully agree with your points on PPF. After a lot of contemplation I gave my brand new Black Hyundai Tucson 4WD at 3M. Opted for full body (including roof) high gloss PPF (~1200Rs/sqft.) + CR70 film for all glass areas (except Panoramic Sunroof). In all costed me a little over 2.5 Lakhs but totally worth it.

Paaji, What are your thoughts on the new Octavia pricing? It's almost par with Superb. Heck even the heavily discounted Audi A4 will make the Octavia very overpriced. I heard from some sources that Audi was giving 10 to 14 lakhs discount on the 2021 A4. Better negotiation skills will make the A4's price even less and you can get it at the price of Superb or even 1 or 2 lakh lesser. People will prefer the Superb or a heavily discounted A4 over the Octavia anyday. Buyers at this price point will definetly look for brand value. This is why the rubbish old GLA sold like hotcakes despite it's rubbish quality and it's size and space are comparable to a premium hatch. No wonder people will buy the Superb or Negotiated A4 over this. Skoda is now inspired by Mercedes-Benz in terms of bad pricing. Sadly, being a humble Rapid owner, I have to say like that.

Bhai 40000 se 1 lakh ke ppf se badiya 3 saal ya 5 saal baad car repaint karalo achi jagah se ya authorized workshop se 1 st quality paint se deltron glasurit ya nerolac se zyada best hain kisi ache painter se itne main toh 2 se 4 baar car repaint hojayegi mujhe samajh nahi aayi bhai above 1 crore wali car main karana chaiye
