I am curious to know how the self healing properties of the film work with a ceramic coating applied on top of the film.

The PPF won't need to self heal if the elements can't get to it due to a ceramic coating. If scratches make it all the way to the PPF, that means that area is exposed, and it'll self heal.

What is the cost in terms of value to most expensive on these 4 for customers? Also have you all serviced the new Foaker Oceans yet?
@mrgold359110 ай бұрын
Pricing depends on installer if you don't plan to do it yourself. The cost comes from color correction, chip repair, and labor of installing the PPF. Notice prices are regional and depend on how many installers in the area. Some installers use custom cut sheets and others cut from large roll and form to almost any size that needs protection. Find an installer that "tucks the seams" in cracks and around corners to help hide the film for an invisible look. It can cost $300-$700 for front end bra (headlights, side mirrors, front bumper), $1000-$1500 for entire front end (hood, bumper, fenders, headlights, side mirrors), and $3500-$4500 to do an entire sedan. PPF like Suntek and XPEL have a 10 year warranty.

Does rubbing alcohol ruin the hydrophobic layer? How long does the hydrophobic layer last? Would ceramic coating be better than the factory hydrophobic coating?

Rubbing alcohol will diminish the hydrophobic qualities overtime IF it's too strong. Just make sure it's diluted with water or more like 50-70% iso alcohol. When doing ppf on a Tesla model Y is there any seems anywhere or can it be done seamless?
@tesbros2 жыл бұрын
The template does have a seam in the bottom lip but you can certainly do it seamless. It'll just have to be installed bulk which means using a large piece of PPF instead of machine cut.

So if you were going wrap your Tesla what brand wrap would you use?
@tesbros Жыл бұрын
I would use any of these! All great brands. We currently use Avery for our DIY front kits -tesbros.com/products/diy-front-protection-kit-ppf-for-model-y

3M and STEK seemed best right? Pls rate them using points for each test n share.
@tesbros2 жыл бұрын
STEK is what I like to use personally. 3M is great but can be difficult to use. Their previous gen PPF wasn't as forgiving, a lot of glue lines or lift lines. But, they just released their new film which is supposed to address all that. I should have a sample to test soon and will most likely do part two of this series.

Where can I purchase pre-cut PPF kits for my Tesla model 3? specifically 3M or STEK?
@tesbros3 жыл бұрын
We have templates available but no instructions yet. So we don’t have it in our store but we can do custom orders if you’re willing to give it a go. Email is at support@tesbros.com to order!

Sir, is there anyway to tell the brand of PPF that was installed? I think I was catfished… I was told I purchased SUNTEK but the quality is below grade compared to my first Tesla I had PPF installed on. Thoughts?
@tesbros2 жыл бұрын
That's a tough one. But most top brands like SunTek no longer yellow. So if it yellows or peels, I would check with the shop if they are certified with a brand.
@Star_Link2 жыл бұрын
@@tesbros thank you for replying. They’re certified with Xpel, SunTek, and 3M. SunTek contacted the shop and the owner said that he installed his own brand on my car. I paid $2,100 for a house brand PPF!! He prides himself on being the SunTek 2021 dealer but then sells his own brand PPF. Not sure what I can do?

This video and these tests would be a lot better with a "control" of no ppf to compare to.

If you want to make another video with these PPF brands, I have a gross test for you. Bird poop. Put the fender(?) with 4 different PPFs under a tree where birds perch. When sufficiently covered in poop, use a hose to see which PPF takes the least time and effort to clean. They'll likely all be clean with a pressure washer. I wanted to see which cleans fastest, easiest with just a garden hose. It's moot for me. After seeing you video, I got 3M PPF on my Tesla Model 3. When I say it looks great, I mean I don't see it at all. I clean my car with just a pressure washer. No problems on the PPF or the paint.

Great test video! Man, gotta say that I'm a little disappointed in the XPEL. I have an X3M arriving in a few months and am pre-shopping for PPF installers. I've heard great things about XPEL and it seems that it's also the preferred brand if not exclusively the brand used by all the installers I've spoken to. But it seems to be the worse performing in this video. lol

Congrats! well i would say these are the top brands in the industry, and comparatively to all the brands out there, it's still a good one. We did an updated part 2 testing recently and added llumar to the mix. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pYbGZGtrh9Wfnsk Might be helpful if you're still unsure about XPEL. But let me know if you have specific concerns or questions about any of them and i'd be happy to answer
