Great work as always, your videos/tutorials are very helpful. Question about wrapped edges. How do you go about doing sharp corners? It is what I struggle with the most. Been trying to do my own vehicles and some friends. As I have always done the work myself. However my corner work is always the weak spot!
@DriveProtected2 жыл бұрын
Hey man! Corners are tough! There’s a video I posted a few months back of how to get maximum coverage on corners using tension on the film. Check it out and if you need any direct help, email me at eric@reflectionautomotive.ca

Great tips! Any more tips for not touching paint, but only cutting ppf?
@DriveProtected2 жыл бұрын
We have a video coming out in a few weeks going over how to cut PPF without touching the paint. Make sure you’re subscribed to the channel so you don’t miss it!

Are there any differences between wrapping PPF vs matte ppl? Any differences in technique? I imagine over stretching would be even more noticeable on the matte. Really want to get it for my car but there seems to be no way for an amateur to buy it
@DriveProtected Жыл бұрын
Nope! No differences.. they install the exact same way!

What do you use to hold the hood? Thanks! Awesome videos
@DriveProtected Жыл бұрын
I use a small plastic container to keep the hood propped open.

May I have a question why dry out is needed? After hood, direct Tack solution on edge is available or not?
@DriveProtected2 жыл бұрын
You can do it with tack solution! I do it often when I am in need of getting a vehicle done sooner. I just think having the film completely dried out allows for the best quality installation.
@jacobsson_daniel Жыл бұрын
Hi! When you say the edges is dry, have they dry with the slip solution on it? And if they are dry you dont need to use any tack solution to make the film to stick, just some heat to be sure? //Daniel Sweden
@DriveProtected Жыл бұрын
If the edges are dry, no tack solution is needed! Just wrap and heat!
@jacobsson_daniel Жыл бұрын
@@DriveProtected Hi. Thanks for your reply. But are the edges cleaned before they are left to dry, or are they left with slip solution on them?
@DriveProtected Жыл бұрын
Once the slip solution dries out, the film doesn't need any cleaning before wrapping.

Hi do you have to wrap the edges imediately after installing ppf or I need to wait for some time for the film to stick well on the car?
@DriveProtected Жыл бұрын
Its ultimately up to you.. I usually wait an hour or so, but if you can get the film to stick right away, then you can wrap it right away.

@@DriveProtected hey question. Might buy Matt film from you but does the edge have to be all the way wrapped or close to edge with Matt films like clear? Thanks!

Our Matte PPF wraps have a half inch wrapped edges on all panels that require a wrapped edge.

Is it possible to use the heat gun to dry out the film?
@DriveProtected2 ай бұрын
Not very much. The film needs to dry out naturally.

@DriveProtected2 жыл бұрын
For the most part, we don't wrap sharp corners as we can't get our hands in there properly to wrap them. However, if you can get your hands in there, check out this video for a reference of how I wrap sharp corners: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qGfLZYSojrOhns0

I think it's cool but if you think about it as much as this cost let's say to rap an entire car The price to just get the little chips and stuff fixed would be a fraction of the cost. I could see doing this if I tracked my car often besides that Not all that worth it for the price
@DriveProtected Жыл бұрын
I appreciate your opinion on this even though I disagree. What would those chips look like touched up? They would look like zits on the car. PPF is for people who value their vehicles factory finish, so it’s definitely not for everyone.

@@DriveProtected I'm saying getting them sanded out and repainted.
@slickrickdarula9483 Жыл бұрын
@@DriveProtected On certain things I think it is a really good idea I'm actually going to do it on my carbon fiber front splitter and side skirts on my Camaro but as far as the paint I don't necessarily drive the car every day so it's less likely to get chipped but I do have some so I'm just gonna leave it and if it ever gets bad enough I'm just gonna get the bumper repainted

@@DriveProtected How much does a full front half clear bra cost?
@DriveProtected Жыл бұрын
A partial front clear bra will run you anywhere from $800-$1500 depending where you are located. A couple other things to keep in mind, is 1. No decent body shop is repainting a front end for less than $2-3000. 2. Your vehicle is worth more if its still factory paint. So PPF is a cost efficient way to keep your car chip free, and keep your resale value up.
