Its impressive cos, its the first 6-rotor to ever be built & run (amazing build quality too)! If you have ever been in a rotary, even a 1.3L 2-rotor can be scary fast, but this is a 3.9L engine capable of 600rwkw (800rwhp or 1000hp fly) NA!

Think about this for a minute: A rotary has almost no vibration, is very light, compact and while fuel-thirsty, it is not particularly picky about what kind of fuel (unless you turbo-charge them.) A rotary is used in the auto-rotor (gyro-plane) concept car/plane prototype I saw on Tech Toys 360, they cited its tiny size, light weight, and most importantly, virtually no vibration which would shake the airframe apart. Other note, I owned a Gen 2 RX7, had over 290k miles and the rotary engine was still strong. The rest of the car was wasted but the engine was a jewel. A gas-hogging jewel. :)

Check out "12 rotor engine running" on KZbin, the guys built a 12-rotor with 6 rotors mounted inline on each side, like pistons on V engines.

Weight ratio is NOT 50/50... lol. Few questions: How much did it cost to build? (Including 3x13B or 2x20B blocks, custom wiring etc.) Will it fit into an FC or an FD without modifications to the car? (Aware it's going into a 4, but I'm not sure of the 4's dimensions) How much does it weigh? (I'm assuming the housing spacers are still old iron ones, not aluminum like the 16X is planned to have. If they are aluminum, again, tack that into the cost). Can't wait to see a "48X" version!

it's like 45-60k for an 26b bro depending if N/A or turbo. What you said is pretty far off as well, it is 2x13bs but they have to modify the plates a bit and they use high comp rotors (from an Rx8 I think) and custom shaft plus counterweights. It would cost close to $4000 NZ just to buy a seals kit to rebuild the motor. If you made this yourself it would still cost like 15-20k for all the parts etc. 2.5 million is so ridiculous though haha maybe he means in different currency.

Yea true but around town it's a pain, my old 7 would struggle going up steep hills without gaining momentum. It would just break traction and spin up, especially in the wet, I found myself trying to launch into hills when starting from a standstill(even though this was all really fun) rather than just taking off in first I would need to hit boost in 1st then feather it up in 2nd like you would a 2 stroke dirt bike. Otherwise you just have to hack it everywhere and cops arnt to fond of it.

Anyone ever make any paired rotor motors? for instance 2 3rotor motors side by side that share the intake manifold and output power to a single driveline? seems like a better idea for balance and center of gravity than just stacking rotors like this, this engine is about as long as it can get but theres still alot of room to move side to side eventually 2 4rotors set up side by side with 1 supercharger feeding both would be a true beast and stable like a gyro

Compared to a piston motor it's relatively cheap but you will never make the low end torque you get with an Straight 6 or V8 but the best part is they're easy to work on, you can stand in the engine bay and pull a 13b out with your bare hands if you really need to haha, cant say i've seen someone do that with an RB26 or a 2JZ.

The P1 uses a slightly smaller engine and its torque band is a lot better. They have track friendly engines and this is a drag engine so completely different.

adjust the right tension on your generator belt. Afterwards put 2 Turbos on it and maybe triple the amount of injectors. Done.

So I just noticed something interesting... 1:22 he is manually revving the engine and the throttle blade position changes do not match the engine responses. 1:35 he is manually revving the engine and the throttle blades don't move at all. Sketchy.

each rotor is bolted tehind the last. when you put to many rotor together the entire "block" is going to twist like mad and you can see it while its idling rough. notice at 1:04 the coil packs vibrate evenly and the whole engine seems to have no interferance. then at 1:10 its idling as if its having a heartattack

1:04 wasn't idling, he had his hand on the throttle giving it a small amount of throttle opening. it was however idling at 1:10, after he released the throttle. that's just how ported rotaries sound. it's the overlap that causes the lumpy idle.

not going to say for sure if they dont twist, because id imagine they would, what im saying is it was just "pulsing" at idle. once the throttle opens these engines want to rev like crazy but smoothly. it's just one of the benefits of a rotary. there's a few cool videos on rotary building that illustrate just how simple these motors are. i reckon just from watching videos you could rebuild one easy.
