Wow such a simple and effective way of calling! I tried the howl wait 5min sequence and by the 3rd howl an old mature male that I'm sure I've heard several times before came in! Thank you for sharing!

Good video Les, thank you. It helped me with the howl and pup-distress. If I keep practicing it will become a lot easier. I can use a Turkey mouth call pretty good. Have used that for close to 30 years, so hoping I can get a lot better with the Yote howler. But I am getting quite sick of wasting my time I feel like. Not calling any in . Just got real serious last winter. Got a Foxpro caller so been out using that. Thanks for sharing.

We had these things as kids toys back in the 60's. They can reach out quite a ways. We never hunted coyotes back then but the sound always either shut the neighbors dogs up, or got them to howling back. I have no doubt they would bring in some yotes. While the reeds in ours were perfectly flat, the sound is exactly the same.

Very informative thanks, also could you do a video about scent control or what you do and use? I have just started to hunt coyotes this year since I now live on the prairies in SK Canada, I have been using a electronic caller but can mimic this information on my caller an ICO300. I have tried as soon as I got the caller got instant response using jack rabbit distress with yips and howls towards me in a heavy wooded area could not see them but they hungup as I then tried to howl back, your information here tells me what I did wrong thanks Les!

Les, been home with the flu and started watching your you tubes. You are a good teacher and I really like your down to earth style. I've only shot coyote when deer hunting here in New England. I notice your videos are all out west. Is there any difference in hunting the big timber back east? I have heard to try calling around marshy or swampy areas. Another question about shotgun loads: here in Connecticut I am relegated to hunting state land where I can only shoot .22LR or shotgun with not larger shot size than #2's. I'm thinking a good turkey load would work. Thanks Les and God bless. Would love for you to comment.

I've called coyotes here in Kansas all my life. Ended up with back problems about the same time my son was big enough to trapes along. Years have passed and he is going out on his own. I never got into the howling but he's heard all the hype about it and wants to try. I told him it wasn't necessary but I will be sure he doesn't miss this information. Best I've heard! Any thoughts on howling if you have a chance to call a cat also? THANKS much for the information!!
@pmessinger6 жыл бұрын
There are some videos of guys who were doing distress calls to call in coyotes and bobcats showed up. I suspect that, though dangerous, the same might work for cougars, who could end up stalking you. I think Les is probably the most practical, ethical predator hunter, though I can see how it could be easy to get too caught up in the sporting aspect of successful hunts, especially IR assisted night hunting. Some coyotes pose no real threat to live stock, but do provide modest income for some with their beautiful pelts.

In my part of PA there are tons of guys sqwauling and squeaking teaching the yotes cause they don't watch wind or bust sets. All my kills have been via aggressive howling.
@marzeneg3 жыл бұрын
That's cool. I also live in PA and I've never actually hunted a coyote before but I recently got the new FoxPro calls for when I do, come next year. I hope that some aggressive calls like these give the hope of larger coyote game.
