I've followed this channel since its early days. I've always enjoyed your style and format. Being in America, your videos often cover cars I didn't know about, or knew very little of, which is really fun to learn about. Also, your editing and comfort in front of the camera have gotten so much stronger over time! Well done! Please keep doing what you do!

The classic car shows in England are so totally different to what we have over here in Switzerland. I envy you guys. The NEC is seems so much more entertaining. It also proves, you don't have to show off multi-million museum cars to attact an audience, especially a younger one. Way to go! Loved the presentation.

For me Roland was the star of the show, he must get so much attention out and about and will be absolute peanuts to run and keep on the road, a perfect novel classic.
@frglee10 ай бұрын
I was interested in the paint job with the teeth - that looks as if it might have been added a very long time ago, (early 60s?) almost if Roland had a spell of banger racing or something! That the car is a daily driver half the year is wonderful eccentricity!
@graemew700110 ай бұрын
@@frglee Yeah it was reminiscent of a WW2 aeroplane paint job with the teeth. I really liked it and the interior is great. There's a man on the north east England classic circuit with a modern 107 Peugeot done in the same way and even though it's not a classic it gets serious attention, it's fantastic.

Good morning Steph. I was at the show yesterday, and like you and others I absolutely loved it going there and seeing some of the loveliest old cars around. I loved the 1969 Triumph 2.5 PI, the 1959 Armstrong Siddeley Star Sapphire 346 that I saw the guys working on, and I even explored the Autojumble, the scale models that were available there read like a mini Motor Show in itself. I saw on one stall counter a selection of some of my old models of classic cars that I had as a child, including a Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith that ended up buried in my back garden until it was unearthed 40 years ago! It was model #150 in the Dinky Toys catalogue, having those originals got me into cars in the first place. I even bought one of the editions of Motor magazine, the 1973 Motor Show Number, it only cost me just £2 compared to the rate charged by Amazon for the same edition. I just loved attending, and like you, Steph, just cannot wait for the next one later on this year. Cheers, and Keeeeeeeeeeeep Driving.

I really loved this show when I came in 2022. It's not just the social history aspect that I love but it's so heartwarming seeing so many people who want to keep these cars alive and bring others back to life. I love how cars can mean so much to people and the memories they can evoke. It's also really encouraging to see so many young, skilled people involved too (yourself included). I sadly couldn't come this year but the Applejack Austin Metro looked lovely.

Roland!!!! Love it. I had an A35 back in the 70s. Regarding young people getting involved, the problem, as Rick Parkington said in a recent Classic Bike magazine, could be that parents, to a great extent, no longer have any mechanical skills, so youngsters who wish to be involved have to do it all for themselves. Keep up the good work.

Regarding the "Flag Jumper" car. In the early days of drag racing the racing was started by a flagman dropping a flag. Modern drag racing uses electronic starter lights. A flag jumper would have racer who was over enthusiastic!

I'm sorry, I've never warmed to Marinas, but if they give people pleasure, that's great
@rx618010 ай бұрын
I’ve owned three Marinas. Mk1 1.8 auto in 1981. My first automatic. Biggest engined car I’d owned. Owned till 1985. Rated as my best car until the late 90s. Then 1988, a £250 1.8 Mk2 banger. Not good. Too much to go into. Then 2016, auction bought Marina HL automatic, low miles, twin carbs, near immaculate interior, 2nd rate paint job but presented well. Thought I’d love it. Drove me mad. Nothing I did to it or spent on it worked right. Grew to hate it. As a kid I thought the Mk2 Marinas in the brochures looked ace. Now I think that hard plastic cheap creaky dashboard with the radio facing the passenger is a terrible backward step from the padded dash in the Mk1 Marina. On my twin carb one every time I pulled the steering shroud mounted choke knob out I had to hang onto the column shroud with one hand to try to stop the plastic breaking.

A good video. The Volvo was nice, but I would keep the std wheels and paint them black. I'm not keen on alloy wheels. Why do these Volvos get stolen?, I can only think of the minority of villains that steal and banger race them. My view is that only cars less than 20 years old should be allowed to enter a banger race. Anything older should be preserved or if too bad, used for parts.
