Thanks once again Steph for making the NEC Classic Motor Show available for those who can't be there in person. Congratulations on getting Speedy the Standard 10 there. 😊👍

Dear Steph, Greetings from Virginia, USA. What an absolutely amazing car show! We just started restoring our 1987 Mazda 626GT Turbo (aka "Silver") and hope to have her running by Spring next year. Silver's story begins when I bought her in February, 1987, after having just completed a Mediteranean deployment in the US Navy. The day I picked up Silver at the dealership was also the day I picked up my fiancee Annie (a true English rose from Surrey) at Norfolk International airport. You are absolutely right about the friendliness of people you meet at car shows. Most of the folks we have met are into US muscle cars but their eyes do light up when we tell them about our project. They wish us luck in addition to helpful advice and encouragement. We'd love to hear from any other Mazda 626 owners, either in the US, UK or Europe. Looking forward to your next VLOG. Cheers!

As always, thanks so much for your tireless + cheerful work promoting appreciation + use of classic cars! Great pleasure to chat with you once again, and delighted to show off the 20,000-mile '49 Minor before we have to ship it back to the States.

I agree. So interesting to know the story behind the vehicles rather than rushing around trying to see everything (which can be frustrating as I often see something in the background that I wish the presenter would stop and look at). Well done Steph.

What a fantastic show! Absolute privilege to meet you in person, and to sit in Speedy was the icing on the cake! Made my day! ( My mate Steve had the cat on his hoodie! I was the old one-Robert, and Jamie was the other one of our trio!) So much to see; I was pretty bushed by the time we left! Great video, as always!

Such a pleasure to meet you again, it was great to see Speedy in the metal, recommissioning an old Standard at short notice was always going to be extremely difficult, but you persevered and made it.

Thank you for taking us around the NEC show. It is much more enjoyable to hear peoples stories as to why they have a particular vehicle and some of the history behind it than just say looking at a static car stand. So glad you got Speedy to the show Steph well done to all who 'chipped in' to help make that happen. 👍👍

Great show, great report. I love the TV detector van, it really made me laugh. I doubt they ever worked but there was only 2-3 channels in those days so you could guess what channel someone was watching & you'd be right 1/3 of the time. If they own up; bingo! Knock on ten doors, get a couple of presecutions & you've made your money for the day.
@bmpowellicio2 ай бұрын
Not so, it was very easy to identify which frequency the receiver was operating on and therefore the channel being watched. It's the same today, television receivers emit so much EMF that a detector with suitable equipment can pick it up using a directional antenna that can identify a single television in a street where there are many. TVs were once clad in thin wood, and now plastic, so there is very little to prevent the high frequency signals from escaping.

Hi Steph, good vlog from the show, so much easier to do before all the crowds get in there. The Blue Triumph Dolomite 1850 in the line up near the beginning belongs to a new friend of mine, Simon Easton. I enjoyed meeting you on the Saturday and the little chat we had. It wasn't until I reviewed the photos I took of your "Speedy" that I realised you had added a roof rack! Great that you made it ok. Now after today get some well deserved rest and look after yourself. Take care, Jon Barnes, from Suffolk.

Those Minors are lovely. If I recall correctly 1949 was the only year for low-light Minors in Canada; US cars were all high-light models from early on because of the then-new 7” sealed beam laws. Not surprised Mr Voelcker is there! I was thrilled to find a very late U.S. car for sale just a couple of miles from me. Sadly I was beaten to it!

15:20 -- the yellow Isetta. I had a 1958 model in my youth and put 13000 miles on it before it threw a piston. Cruise @ 37 mph, never more although it could do just over 50. If going on a long trip it paid to carry spare petrol as on steep hills it could conk out through fuel starvation. Being gravity fed was the cause and topping the tank up cured the problem and off you went again! But one day out in the middle of the wop-wops it flipped its lid and at the time, 1969, the $300 it would have cost to repair with genuine BMW parts, was well above its market value, so my dad had a Honda stationary engine fitted and used it for the short hop to his work. My first car in high school here in Texas was a white Isetta. What is different with our friends in the UK is that three wheel version. I don’t think we ever had those over here and mine had four wheels. I agree with the gentleman that that does not need restoring.

Steph are you using Adobe Premiere to edit videos? When the camera is panning at (for example) 14:29 I think that speeding up and slowing down is caused by the "Sequence Settings" not matching the FPS of the video. In Premiere it can be set before editing with "Sequence > Sequence Settings". When exporting there's also a button under the Video tab saying something like "Match Source" that should fix it. If you're not using Premiere then I don't know. The erratic panning makes me dizzy though. 😂 *Still great vids of course!* I downloaded this video and it's at 29.970 FPS. Maybe the input video was at 30 FPS? Sorry just trying to help 😛
