Hello Steve! Unfortunately, I need to spend a lot of time to pronounce the text more or less clearly. To dub this video with my own voice, I would spend about two working days. I don’t like to include artificial speech in the video, but it turns out very quickly). I'll see what the responses are.

Hello! I didn’t intentionally insert an episode with anxiety, but if it happened by accident, I shouldn’t re-shoot the video material again. I am in the center of Ukraine, our life is similar to ordinary. The fighting is going on 500 kilometers away from us. Several times there were rocket bombings, then there were explosions, shaking of the soil and air, the closest explosion was 600 meters from my house. But, oddly enough, over time it seems that everything is more or less normal.

This is a project for now, but it is quite realistic. I thought in detail about how to accomplish this task. Fortunately, I have everything, I mean tools and equipment, to complete this task. This is interesting, in addition, I agreed with the owner on the subsequent rental of this machine, and due to this it is economically justified.

Great work. I also prefer your voice and accent. How do you differentiate orthogonal movements from angular ones? The mirror sitting higher than the guides can swing sideways if the guides had angular variations confusing measured data.
@gena_bazarko
@gena_bazarko Жыл бұрын
Now the surface is rough. The repeatability of measurements is within one arc minute. But this is enough to start scraping work. After this, the surfaces will become smoother and the accuracy will increase. Up to maximum at the end of work. And the mirror at the end of scraping will not be able to swing, since there will be full contact.

Do you level the autocollimator with a bubble level or is it referenced to the machine ways you are measuring?
@gena_bazarko
@gena_bazarko Жыл бұрын
The autocollimator is installed approximately coaxially with the guide. The optical axis of the autocollimator must fall into some place on the surface of the mirror at the first measurement step and at the last, not necessarily at the center of the mirror. It's enough. For installation, a level is needed so that the autocollimator can be installed without tilting, I mean without rotating around the optical axis.

Great example of using the device. Is there a reason to not oil the ways: does it interfere with the measurements. Are dry readings more accurate ? Thanks for the channel and stay safe.
@gena_bazarko

Now the measurements are plus or minus ten arc seconds, each time the mirror moves. Surfaces are too rough. It won't work out more precisely. The presence or absence of lubrication will not change anything. When the work is completed, the flatness of the surfaces will improve significantly, the accuracy of the measurements will increase, then I would rub the surfaces with graphite, the dust is very fine and does not distort the measurements. You can also use kerosene. Or you can use nothing.
@dougbriggs6797
@dougbriggs6797 Жыл бұрын
Thank you for explaining. If it doesn't matter at this stage then my ears tell me to use lubrication. Maybe not everyone is so sensitive to metal screeching. Great tip on using graphite. @@gena_bazarko

I did not work and film in my own premises; unfortunately, I did not take kerosene with me and was forced to work with a creak. Going to the store for kerosene meant going behind schedule; time did not allow it.

I wondered if you could offset the measurements by 50 cm on another pass, to get intermediate results for averaging... It seems to me that one possible problem with the autocollimator is that a section that has an offset from the main line, will measure as perfect, if it is parallel to the autocollimator...I suppose that it could be "picked up" with the transition from correct to offset..

@gena_bazarko
@gena_bazarko Жыл бұрын
Hello! Point (ball-shaped) contacts also have other disadvantages. In this case, there is no problem with the contact of the legs. The measurement accuracy is sufficient for the state of the surface as it is. As the condition of the surface improves during scraping, the quality of contact will increase, from cycle to cycle, up to the maximum.

Hello! I have my own small enterprise that produces clothes. I've been doing this for the last 30 years. Before that, I worked for some time as an industrial designer. Recently, due to the war, my business has decreased significantly, and circumstances have changed greatly. In addition, I now spend a lot of time on my hobby, which fills my KZbin channel with material. But I’m happy to work for the KZbin channel, it’s interesting and promising.

I recently picked up a couple of Nikon 6B autocollimators and some of their mirrors and a precision prism optical square. It has been interesting to see how the Eastern European manufacturers solved certain problems, for example, your mirrors with the sights are a very cool solution to the tedious initial alignment. I also liked how you rotated 45 degrees to simplify the offsets, simple but not as obvious a solution as it looks. I'm curious how you intend to measure the parallelism (both height and distance) between those two V-ways?
@gena_bazarko
@gena_bazarko Жыл бұрын
Hello! I appreciate your hands-on experience with the autocollimator and its accessories. If you could email me, we can delve into these questions in greater detail. I also have a pentaprism, a Soviet one, and it's quite fascinating with its beamsplitter and the third window. I couldn't find much information about it, so I'll have to figure it out as I work with it. Now, to address your two questions: There's no need to monitor the parallelism of the guides on this machine since the linearity of motion is ensured by the V-shaped guide. Any angular deviation, i.e., the deviation of the flat guide from the vector of the V-shaped guide, can be easily detected and measured with a precise spirit level. Feel free to reach out via email, and we can discuss this in more detail.

Hello! Now I have for sale an autocollimator of 1 arc second, there is a 0.5 arc second, there is a 0.2 arc second. Everyone works in two coordinates at the same time. Autocollimators can be equipped with one, two or two plus a third mirror that fits onto the lens at an angle of 45 degrees. The set has a special plywood box with places for storing the set. The autocollimator and its accessories are tested before sale. Everything is in good order and corresponds to its original characteristics. Please write to me by email, I will provide detailed information and photo or video material. My mail: den.gennady19@gmail.com

A drop of oil on the target contact points might help to stop the vibrations happening.The contact points would be moving in two different arcs due to the friction (which is where the sound comes from) and therefore possibly not in a true plane when you park at each stop.Only splitting microns here but that is how my brain sees it.

@gena_bazarko
@gena_bazarko Жыл бұрын
@ЖелезнаяЖизнь
@gena_bazarko
@gena_bazarko Жыл бұрын
