Black exhaust header paint would make that heat shield dissappear in the engine bay, it would blend right in.

hot air station with temperature control is great for un-adhering adhesives like the shift knob sticker. the small nozzle and low airflow (relative to the average heat gun) restricts spilling too much heat into surrounding materials and you can turn it up gradually to use *just enough* to soften the adhesive with minimal risk to anything else. Abs unit heat shield 👌

Gave this a like despite the melancholy of a project coming to an end. Loved this series and the updates you made! I am super stoked about the upcoming ZX-7!!!!

Excellent tutorial on the VISA rebuild so now I'll order the kit and rebuild mine, which is fine but want to make sure I do this preventive repair.

I am subscribed and am enjoying watching your various videos on the E39. I recently bought a 2002 530I several months ago, and now have 3 of them, they all need several repairs, but are worthy projects, and I am new to these cars, so your video's a big help!- Btw your car is beautiful!

It’s such a beautiful car. I own one myself, same color, 2001 530i. And talking about dings, I have couple of them on my hood quite large, about 2” in diameter both. Hopefully, they can be fixed. Thank you.

Try putting black rhino liner on the heat shield for added protection

Wonder how this would work out with a top-mount turbo. Looks like it protrudes out further and it's already a tight spot, definitely needed with the extra heat though.

Amazing job! I just got an e39 a few weeks back so obvs im interested in all videos across so I can get an Idea of its most common problems. Which as one im fighing with atm is sometimes just turns the ABS,ASCR and breaking light on and of whenever couldent read a code as it mostly just yoinks itself off the screen. Also im very interested into your heatshield so if you dont mind im about to send you an E-mail! totally loveable!

I think the heat shield would look much better under the hood if you painted it with some flat black high temp paint.

In south korea that I live, we have some discussion about ABS heat shield. Some guys say heat shield interrupt wind flows. does it work in your case?

I've found that the heatshield deflects more heat than any possible air movement could remove. I don't think there is much air movement getting to the ABS module to begin with.

I can attest that my foil tape/insulating foam/sandwich heat shield was not as aesthetically pleasing as your heat shield.
