Animals are so dignified and accepting of their limitations. Humans could do well to be more like them. My 10 year old rescue dog is totally blind from glaucoma. He continues to live his best life, getting excited when it's time for walkies. On our walks his tail is always wagging as he uses his other senses to navigate. As it happens, I also have advanced glaucoma. My beloved dog is teaching me acceptance in the event I too should lose my sight at some point in the future.

The depth of feeling an animal shows is the purest, the most compassionate. Humans, as time goes by, prove to be quite the reverse. They rationalise in a different way... they extend kindness in a wary way, only if they are assured of the percentage they get. Not so with animals. If they take to you they take to you. No questions asked about your past, present or future! They are faithful till the last, something that does not exist among mankind in the 21st century.
