This video literally improved my axe chopping ability. My blade bites a full 1/2 inch deeper into wood when I use my shoulders to snap the blade forward instead of my wrists. Im currently overweight and find that motivation to move and lose weight is hard to find so im hoping that practicing your teachings at home in my backyard will help me lose weight and perhaps one day join a dojo to truly hone my skills in this art. Amazingly clear and detailed teachings like yours really are what help keep the art alive and keep bringing in new people such as myself to learn it.

I like this teaching style. A lot of teachers on the internet just show you very basic moves and don't go into detail with why you do things in a specific way, or what the actual moves and stances are called, not like some guy who watches anime and shows off his moves like he can teach, or someone who teaches casual and simple moves without any real substance. It reminds me of my old Japanese teacher. She does kendo and likes to talk about it, and she is very good at it. We're essentially getting a paid lesson for free. Thank you sir

SpeedZtarDeluxe Thank you for your kind words! Kendo is not very well known to the world yet so many misunderstand it. And since people don't know about it, they tend to learn the wrong kendo. So I want to help them at least to understand what kendo really look like! Let me know if you have any questions!

This content is magnificent. So many precious details in one display. A jewel. Thank you so much for sharing it. I especially appreciate how you explain the basics from the position (point of view) of _the sword_ (katana) using the bokuto as what _it should represent_ (a blade) and not see everything from the shinai stand.
@StandardGoose
@StandardGoose 10 жыл бұрын
It's interesting that you say practicing with a shinai gives you bad habits. I always train at home with a shinai because I always assumed the extra weight would make for a better work-out, but you're right; that extra weight can make you sloppy too. I think I'll begin using bokuto for solo practice in future.
