It seems almost more understandable than Middle English.

Modern Scots hasn't diverged enormously from its older forms in both vocabulary and pronunciation, and almost seems like a time capsule - especially compared with English, though that varies in some dialects moreso than others.

This is way easier to understand than English of the time, at least to me. Both in reading and writing. Ain’t that wild?

It's not much different from what's spoken in that region even now, it's like a time capsule

Sounds like an ancient version of one of Robert Burns’s poems. Keep up the good work though!

Why is early Scots easier to understand than modern Doric?
@jamesgallic67743 жыл бұрын
The "quh" is known to be said as /xw/ now but as this is a North East poem the author himself wouls have likely said it as f though that depends on his audience and such.
@ABAlphaBeta3 жыл бұрын
/xw/ was fairly systematic in the 1300s, it became f later on (like English gh)
@lukey.s98032 жыл бұрын
