The spaciousness reminds me of Internal Family Systems (IFS) work and Constellation Work, which allow both the "watch the play" and then "maybe the play can shift. : "When I can “free up space inside, a sense of spaciousness, my nervous system, which was tense in a way that I didn’t even perceive it was tense, gets to relax……...And so that spaciousness that gets freed up allows me to be more present, particularly in conflict war situations…. […] When I then put myself in someone else’s shoes, I can watch if there is projection going on,....I can watch it more easily because I have more space, there’s more balcony…. From the balcony, you can see more, you can take off your blinders and can see the larger picture….you can “watch the play”. And then, from that balcony perspective, I can see that if I’m going to make an intervention: ‘Oh what if this character does a little bit of this…or this character does a little bit of that…maybe the play can shift?’ "

Wonderful to hear the two of you speaking together again. I hadn't realized that a specific outcome of integrating strong emotions is the emergence of spaciousness, which makes it possible to relate to the wider reality we inhabit. That's quite a gift of this practice. Thank you, both.

"...the faint sound of a human mind opening" after the circle of having gone through anger and sadness! Wow! What if we all listen to and stay related during the circle has reached this moment of opening?! (Or do we tend to arm ourselves or leave before?)

"Step back and find perspective within by pinching your palm." & "Go to the balcony!" I wish and visualize this ritual with everyone on the planet, esp. people in leading positions and politicians. Let´s start right away now here!

Inspiring conversation! I would love to see though that “third side” becomes “allsides” as third side still builds on the idea that there are two sides in a conflict ( also present throughout this conversation) which in my view is never the case. Whenever we say two - specially in conflict - polarity paradigm enters and traps us into right or wrong, with us or against us etcetc. And in the current war in Ukraine ‘we’ again unconsciously think we need to make a choice between Two parties. In my view detrimental … We need to embrace the idea of including all sides … in Afghanistan and Ukraine and Palestine/Israël and in ourselves …
