Bloody good show there my friend, we are looking at the same Bushwakka awning and going the same route as you guys, we are going down the lithium battery track, we are thinking about the 200ah slimline battery and the Redarc dcdc40 charger and mounting it behind the rear seats instead of the under bonnet, yep I mean the second row seat plenty of room to do so after mounting the rear draw system Always looking forward to watching your inspirational and educational Vids Michael as it’s one of our highlights of the week cheers my friend👍👍👌👌🍺🍺

Some sound advice and great insight into the potential of significantly shortening the life of auto transmissions through undue and excessive heat. For my Prado build, I installed an 'Ultragauge' and mounted it on the pillar using a specific bracket. I've got it configured to display six different key engine outputs which I can readily glance up at particularly when towing my 15ft hybrid caravan. Thus far, I haven't seen the kind of temps you mentioned in your video. I've heard that a transmission lock up kit significantly helps keep temps at a minimum whilst improving fuel economy. Also, instead of a secondary battery system (installed under the bonnet etc.), I purchased a Bluetti AC200Max and 3 x Bluetti 200W portable solar panels which so far has been awesome given that it's completely portable and something I use to power my kitchen fridge at home 24/7 when not camping. I'm keen to see how your awning performs in your travels in the long term. I installed a Bush Company 270MaxXT awning and am pretty happy with it so far but apart from the (exorbitant??) purchase price (believe it costs a little under $1K more than your Bushwakka!!), it's not exactly light (claimed 33kgs) but seemingly comparable to the Bushwakka. Similar to the Bushwakka, you can get side panels to effectively enclose the entire underside - again for a price. Time will tell how good the Bush Company gear is but my overall approach to my Prado build has been, 'buy once, buy right'.

Thanks mate for you comments. That Ultragauge sounds like the go. Great idea with the Bluetti, great idea instead of running the battery under bonnet. I assume it comes with an inverter as well? I am very happy with the Bushwakka Awning. I'll have some videos out soon, where we are at Pebbly Beach, 1st night gail force winds, and later heavy rain! Awning did awesome, especially with the added walls, kept me dry. One of the nights I left my tail gate open, and all was good the next morning. It definitely held up to the weather. Cheers mate

Thanks mate. Yep just making a video right now in fact, and the walls and awning get a work out with the wind and rain!

Great set up. You really need to cover those positive terminals on both batteries to guard against accidental short circuits.
