Great video. I learned something new about places I regularly visit like Výtoň. I would just add one notion to 2002 flood: unlike the other big floods mentioned in the video this one happened despite cascade of dams had been built in 20th century which was meant (among others) to protect Prague against big floods. So nobody expected it could get so bad. Yet it did.

Nice! Last year when we visited Praha we spent an entire day in that area around the old train bridge. First we went to Vysehrad to walk around the castle, then we went to eat at Hostinec na Vytoni (didn't know there was a museum there as well. The duck there is fantastic), then we walked over the bridge to Staropramen and had some beers there...very nice area.

Beautiful and informative video! Thanks for your work! I enjoy it very much. I've walked along most of the locations in this video, and it's shocking to see the Vltava River so high! I'm wondering what happened to the little cafes and galleries they call the "Lenses" that are in the riverwall. Glad Prague was spared the worst of the recent flooding. The eastern parts of the Czech Republic and southeastern Poland weren't so lucky.
@viktornovomestsky3999
@viktornovomestsky3999 Ай бұрын
The water level didn't reach the "Lenses" this time, but in case it would happen, there are metall doors installed, meaning the interior will be protected and not flooded, the worst it might cause is to break the glass at the entrance, but that's repairable...

I think this is the side of the city we didn’t get to see when we visited. I’m referring to the beginning where she shows water still over the riverbank. We stayed very close to the old town square where the Astronomical Clock Tower and Church of Our Lady are. Prague is a beautiful city we went to tour Prague Castle, Powder Tower, Charles Bridge, toured the Astronomical Clock Rower, visited the Church of Our lady and another church in the old town square area but I can’t remember the name of it. It has a dome while Church of Our Lady has the two towers.

Czech politicians were like: "Go close antiflood doors." "No, you are supposed to do that." "Maybe, but I don't have the key, who has the key?" "Maybe previous mayor forgot to return the key?" "Who does nothing will screw nothing, let's do nothing." BTW, šítkov tower sounds as shitkov only because of your accent....that was probably rude, I am sorry. Your pronunciation is mostly almost perfect, but in some cases, I really have no clue what you are trying to say, like "legií bridge." I don't want to sound rude, but when you can't pronounce it at all, you should avoid that word.
@xsc1000
@xsc1000 Ай бұрын
Šitkov would sound strange to any english speaking person, even the "í" is pronounced little different. Legií bridge is not about accent but its just combinanion of english word and czech word with declension. So it should be Bridge of Legions in English.
@Pidalin
@Pidalin Ай бұрын
@@xsc1000 It is about accent, Russian speakers just can't hear long vowels properly and can't pronounce combinations like ií, they say it more close Englsh, while in Czech, you have to pronounce every letter or it's not understandable. If it was written "legijí" then it would be probably more clear how to pronounce it, but legy with russian accent is not understandable. I am watching this channel for pretty long time and I have such a feeling that she is getting slightly lazy in Czech.
@xsc1000
@xsc1000 Ай бұрын
@@Pidalin But even Bridge Legií is nonsence because its hybrid between Czech and English.
@Pidalin
@Pidalin Ай бұрын
@@xsc1000 So are we supposed to remove all foreign origin words and create some our nonsense words? We already tried it in 19th century and it just didn't work. Word legie is NOT English, English just accepted it too in slightly different form. Don't be that arrogant prick who think that English has some patent for words, it's everything mostly from Latin, French or Italian.
@Pidalin
@Pidalin Ай бұрын
@@xsc1000 Exactly as I thought, it's word of latin origin and original form is legio and since bridge is named after Czechoslovak legions in WW1, you can't remove it just becuse you believe only English can uses that word. 😀
