I’m also fasting BUT not from food BUT from social media like insta en Snapchat en now i really see how much time i’m spending on those apps and all the time that i have now i infest it in the kingdom of God I recommend fasting from social media to people because I’m finally aware from al the time I’m actually wasting

Chiney Leefland I'm on my second week of fasting from social media and I started writing my book haha. That is how distracted I was before so when I finally put those distractions away, my mind expanded and basically I thought I was let paralyzed on my phone anymore. I also recommend fasting from social media! 🙌🏾
@galileafuentes3157 жыл бұрын
Chiney Leefland bo such thing as fasting from social media. Its food you need to fast with. When jesus fasted he sacrificed food not social media. Yes its good to get away from social media for God. But the real fasting for God is when you sacrifice food.
@chrisyv80537 жыл бұрын
Galilea Fuentes Well maybe for those of you hung up on grammar 🙄 we as Christians should be encouraging to those who are sacrificing something, anything, for the sake of their relationship with their Heavenly Father. If you are depriving yourself FOR the Lord, you are fasting from that thing to purposely replace that time with time With the Lord, you are fasting. Doesn't matter what any other human ( brother in Christ or not) thinks. Until the Holy Spirit tells that person it's "not fasting unless its food, sorry " then why not encourage them?
@Ms_T_Perfectly_Imperfect6 жыл бұрын
Galilea Fuentes You're right. The Bible specifically states that a fast is from food and water or just food. The principle is to push away food and to replace it with the word of God. We can encourage giving up material possessions or social media, but that is not a genuine fast. I myself was confused about this until I received correction.

I disagree with tip #3. You always should come as you are with God. Especially when you are in a bad place or after you sinned. This is a prime reason to fast. Consider King David who fasted for days when he and Bathsheba committed adultery and had that baby. He locked himself away from everyone and just started to fast. And yes prayer is important when fasting. But, you don't have to pray all day. You can read scripture. You can praise him through song and dance. The point is to spend time with your Father alone. No need to put a yoke on yourself. Just focus on Him and all should be well.

Haha girl I remember when I first fasted. There was one time I fasted and someone at my job at the time asked me if I can go to lunch with her. I told her yes with the intention that I wasn't going to eat. This lady ordered food for me and I didn't want to throw it away. I prayed to break my fast off and ate it. I didn't tell there but she asked me the next day and I told her. She said I should have let her know. I didn't drink water first. The way my stomach was hurting. It was scary but if I've grown to learn. Fasting is a blessing but it's also discipline because I know people who say they will never fast. Like you mentioned, when you pray throughout the day, you don't become focused on the food but rather on God. Good bless you. Have a lovely day 💐😊

You are so right on all points! No selfish prayers! G-d's will! In Judaism, we believe your body belongs to G-d and you are the steward of that vessel. Fasting is not only an expression of faith, but a time for sincere prayer and reflection, and to honor Him. No need to draw attention to your fasting, because you're doing it for Him not for recognition.

I have struggled with emotional eating all my life. It's had it's grip on me for years and I feel convicted to share this. Please come into agreement with me as I pray to be delivered from this vice. In Jesus name I pray 🙏 Amen

Alright. Just know you aren’t the only one who’s struggling and although it’s been tough for you know that no matter how the situation looks. All things, all things, are possible with GOD Luke 18:27. You can fast with a group and just take steps from their praying to GOD for strength. And try not to think about how you’ll have no food what so ever for the next day or two just focus on GOD and fill those times where you usual eat with spending time with GOD and just listening to Him.

I have never fasted before but really want to. I have looked everywhere trying to find the information I need, but I have some unanswered . They may sound stupid to others, but they are keeping me from trying this. I want to start with a sun down fast for one day since I have never done anything like this before and then increase. Since I have a job, family and many obligations throughout the day, I need to know: 1. My day includes contact with many people and responsibilities to others, do I have to stop all of this and isolate myself in prayer? 1. Do I have to pray the entire time? 2. Can I read or watch Bible Study videos during this time? 3. What about my normal household duties that must be completed each day? Do I just not do them? 4. Do I isolate myself and cut off contact from others during this time? I have read about fasting and watched videos and have not found one that addresses these questions. This video is the closest I have found, but my questions are still unanswered. Please help me. . .

@thelovedheir3 жыл бұрын
Yes this works. It’s the enemy who targets marriages because it is a covenant recognized by God. More people need to fight for their marriage and stand in the gap. The enemy is having it far too easy breaking up marriages with weak to no foundation in God. I speak from experience. It is spiritual warfare. The Lord led me to do the same thing as @n8vscience84 and He was faithful to restore our marriage and bring my husband to repentance and back home. He also worked on us both individually so we could have true restoration. We’re still a work in progress but Jesus is our Lord! We’re now 23 years married. That was 21 years ago. 😁
@sheenspeaks3 жыл бұрын
@@justalilpink9764 No she is doing the right thing. If you believe in God then you should understand the spiritual warfare is real. Look at the divorce rate. Look at all the children broken from their broken homes. Chances are you move onto someone else and that relationship will fail too because evil is running rampant in our society today and many many people have become lovers of themselves. She needs to hold on and ask God to restore it.

@NaomiMavenThorne5 жыл бұрын
I disagree with "tip 3" the purpose of fasting is TO connect intimately with God... And flush demonic spirits. So yes, pray and ask for forgiveness as you fast but you don't have to 'be clean' he knows you're dirty, that is why you're doing it, or it should be And you pray and fast only... Or don't bother. Your edits in this video are sort of strange.

I just started fasting today and this comment really helped. I have an understanding that you have to be clean in spirit prior to fasting. I’ve been in an very very tragic and confusing period recently in my life and I’ve been sinning, rebelling, the whole bit. but this morning my spirit told me to just surrender, pray for forgiveness repent and fast for the next 24 hours in prayer. After listening to the #3 tip I began to feel a little bit invalid in terms of, I have a complex where I think I’m not a good enough Christian, I sin and I feel Unworthy to even come to God. So after hearing that tip I automatically thought of the sins I did 2 days prior and that maybe I’m not clean enough to fast and im wasting my time. But your comment really helped, so thanks brother.

You’re beautiful and I love that fasting is part of your walk with God. I disagree with #1, you can absolutely pray for money if you’re in financial lack or going through hardship or poverty. His answer may require you to sow a seed or repent for bad stewardship/ irresponsibility with money, etc, etc. He may highlight generational curses that need to be dealt with. If it is an issue that is causing worry or hardship, He wants you to bring it to Him. His desire is that we live an abundant life so that through our overflow we can advance His kingdom. As long as you’re seeking God for your provision and not worshipping money, you can fast and pray for financial provision. Money is just a resource, a tool. There’s nothing wrong with having it as long as “it” doesn’t have you. I would say that’s why God instituted tithing but that’s another topic.

Can you fast from 6 pm to 6 pm the next day like starting off small
@foreverrachel5 жыл бұрын
I don't know about that but I know most times, it's good to start in the morning. If you'd like to start off light, perhaps you can do half day? i.e 6am to 12 in the afternoon?

Yes, whatever GOD put on your heart. Normally starting off in the Morning is good because if you eat all day then it defeats the fast

When you're fasting, how should you pray? Is it okay to pray for whatever is bothering you or on your heart or should it be praise?
@foreverrachel6 жыл бұрын
I think fasting should be a combination of both of these things. All the best! x
