***** Yep! It's highly important to dress nice for mass. What's unfortunate is I see other kids dress without reverence. Not that I'm judging them, but it's just unfortunate. It takes away the sacredness of the mass and privilege to partake in the sacrifice of the Eucharist. 1 thing that terrifies me is when I see Deacons with sandals >_>

I want to thank my blessed friend Eugene McKee at St Anne in Richmond Hill, GA. He teaches all the servers in the most reverent, traditional, and prescribed ways. He’s a most gentle teacher and friend especially to the young who are encouraged by him together with the pastor. His brother who was living with him has just passed away, Danny McKee. Please pray for his soul and the Carmelites of Savannah. May God bless you.

Gabi! This is the best video I've ever watched about altar servers. In my parish, the altar servers should dress the way that you described even the girls should go with dress pants and black shoes. If we dress jeans the Master of Ceremonies don't let us do what altar servers do. We have to organize everthing before mass. And we have to keep our hands in praying positions too. God bless, my brother (in Christ)

Another great tip comes with experience in a way. In my parish, our priests all have different styles. As an altar server, I’ve sort of adapted to each priest by remembering the tiny details about each priest (one goes faster, one isn’t as lavish). With these facts in mind, I’ve tweaked the way I serve for each priest, making the mass more efficient. So I guess my tip is: Be observant.

This video brought back memories. It always amazed me that I never drop the cross. That cross was bigger and too heavy for me to carry. One person told my mom that I had this serious look that it was my job to make sure the cross got to the place even if I wobbled to center the weight of the cross. A few times the organizer walked up to me looking worried, because of none the Alter server didn't show. Two times I wore flip-flops, and got a lecture from the priest.

Is it correct that I don't have to get any future Scapulars or Medals blessed? this is definitely something i will work on, but the other altar servers at my parish don't really understand the importance of their role and are VERY irreverent. they actually face the congregation during Mass and not the Altar, and talk during Mass, let alone standing reverently. they are also much younger than me, making them follow this will be difficult hmm. i don't wanna undermine the priest who trains the altar servers but he doesn't mention how/why to be reverent :-(

It changes the meaning of the prayer. Actions have meaning. It is also distracting...trying to pray the our father and you can't help but analyze the other persons hands etc... cold/sweaty hands... but in the end... nobody is going to stop you. It isn't a battle worth fighting in my opinion. Hold hands with strangers all day for all I care.
