I appreciate the comment about the sign of peace being a distraction at a moment when our attention should be on receive the body of Christ.
@anthonyiannozzi67777 ай бұрын
Absolutely true. I remember in the late 1960s when the Church started the sign of peace. I was only 9 or 10 years old and felt even then it made little sense. The instructions were to turn only to the person to your right and briefly shake their hand. Now I see even at daily mass many people waiving to others all over the pews. The Lamb of God prayer is already being said and they are still waiving to people all over the church. It completely takes the attention away from Our Lord. The Novus Ordo Mass is not as full of graces as the Traditional Latin Mass. If you don't believe me, visit a Latin Mass and you will see and feel the difference. Also "Extraordinary" Ministers were to be utilized only if it would be excessively too long for priests alone to distribute the Eucharist. Now you can see sometimes 7 or 8 ministers even when they are totally not needed. Communion in the hand is not a good idea either as it makes it too easy for bad recipients to steal the host. I once witnessed this happen and someone from the congregation was told by the priest to chase him outside the church to recover the host. Many believe Communion in the hand is a sacrilege, started in Europe out of disobedience. Why take the chance? Always receive Our Lord on the tongue and only from the consecrated hands of a Priest.
@Corato45356 ай бұрын
Our holy priest omits the sign of peace. If I attend other parishes, at the sign of peace I kneel and have my head down and pray, often for The Lords Peace to reign in souls ✝️ My focus is on The Lord and I look at the tabernacle throughout mass, not at the lector and only on the priest during his homily. a church that abets and aids child molesters? I church that committed the residential school scandal? The church that sold indulgences, burned people as witches, that condemns life-saving condoms in AIDS ravaged Africa and SO much more.... you are an accomplish in all that evil.... Shame.

Judgment belongs to God. Pray for that person that he or she or a family may be safe in their journey with Jesus in their hearts. Peace to every Catholic who easily gets distracted and pray for every Catholic who struggle in life and specially for commenters on this post that they may find forgiveness in their hearts and seriously to mind their own business to put it bluntly while they are kneeling after receiving communion. Peace of Christ to all.✝️✝️✝️

I think being late is better than not going at all, especially for new church goers. When I started going to mass I was sometimes late for 20 minutes at the most. There's only one bus to church, and that bus is always late. I started leaving home one to half an hour earlier than usual after I realized this.
@Nobli825 ай бұрын
Yeah, if you have to rely on the bus schedule it might be tricky... in my childhood we lived very close to the church, 5 minutes of walking distance... however, my family almost always had to be late. Because they didn't want to get there TOO EARLY!!!! I always HATED this attitude so much!!! And when we indeed were late, my mom forced us to go around to the back gate to avoid people seeing us entering late, making us arrive EVEN MORE LATE!!!! Clearly shows that it was not the Lord who was most important for them, but themselves and other people's opinion! This is so sad! Now they do not attend church at all! I am so deeply saddened by this!

Mother and kids 13, 14 years old using the phone playing video games and mom other things . Then sitting. Then she told them go to take the Communion. Is so sad. Also people arriving too late during the Gospel or Consagration, then they take the Communion. Cel phones ringing and people answering. It's painful, I suffer about that.

Jesus said, "take this all of you and eat it." We as Catholics keep looking for ways to exclude others from consuming the eucharist. We should be doing the opposite.
@Nobli825 ай бұрын
@@jshandrowsky People should not be this disrespectful towards the Holy Eucharist. Would you be so disrespectful if you were invited to have dinner with King Charles III? If not, then why are certain people so disrespectful at the church, where the King of Kings, Creator of the whole world resides in the tabernacle, who was generous enough for becoming a human, suffer and die on the cross to save us from the consequences of our own sins and giving us His own flesh and blood to eat and drink under the veil of the bread and wine to give life to us?

The sign of the cross is not only a mark of respect for Christ, as one enters the Church . It is done with holy water as we enter the Church to remind us of our Baptism in Christ. The Doxology is said only by the priest. " Through Him , with Him, in Him and in the unity of the Holy Spirit all glory and honor is yours Almighty Father for ever and ever" The Amen is said by the congregation.
