사마귀 발색은 유전이나 환경이 영향을 미치지만 왕사마귀의 경우엔 가장 큰 영향을 미치는것이 일광욕을 했느냐 안했느냐입니다. 햇빛이 많이 드는곳에서 키운 애는 녹색이 된거고 아닌 애는 갈색이 된거라고 할 수 있습니다.

It did my heart good to see a mantis eating grasshoppers again. My beloved Carolina named Fang passed away in April--ancient girl!--and they were her very favorite food. It's wonderful to see that in a way her energy is still here and always will be. She had the best life I could give her and I still miss her but I would not trade my time with her for anything. I know you probably feel the same about Kiwi, PleaseBe. I want a Chinese mantis next when life allows, they're so PERFECTLY, mantis, and I really want a very big one, and they are naturalized here in the US so if it somehow escapes it is okay as they are already everywhere.

I had a mantis as well that passed named her yuffie she left me some eggs but I dunno how so got em because I had her since a baby but it was my fist time with a mantis so when I got the egg sac I didn't know what to do with it so now 100 tiny mantises running around

Fun fact: I now actually have a tiny pet spider! Her name is Webbie, and every weekend, I need to go to the park to find some ants. But then, I found a grasshopper! I don't know what type it is, so if you know it, let me know. It kind of has a leafy texture. I tried to catch it, but failed. I grabbed it by the legs, success! I stroked it with my finger (so cute) , but my dad told be that it was too big and might actually eat the spider itself instead. So I let it go in the grass. I already miss him. 🦗🦗🦗❤❤❤

when i first found a certain pair of (carolina) mantis, they were on the opposite sides of the same leaf, too. however, the male was an adult, and the female molted her wings 2-3 days later. i got them to mate 10 or so days later. interestingly enough the female i caught with him ate him, while the female he first mated with first (another mantis) let him do it without hurting him. in this observation, the female mantis more readily attacked the male that looked the least like themselves (brown vs brown female and brown vs green female). is there any correlation between the phenotype of different mantis of the same species, the rate of the female eating the male during mating, and how dependant on feeding them beforehand is necessary to prevent the death/injury of the male?
