While taking a walk, I found a very small egg.
It was the egg of a swallowtail butterfly.
I found a few more eggs around and decided to raise them to adult.
A swallowtail butterfly larva hatches from its egg a few days later.
Over time, caterpillars became caterpies, and caterpillars became Metapods.

In college, I lived in an area with lots of butterflies. I would catch and raise black swallowtails, picking the caterpillars out of the garden and feeding them lots of fennel. Not every caterpillar I caught got to become a butterfly, sadly, but the ones that were able to emerge were always so beautiful. I've noticed butterflies raised by humans are very trusting, and it feels magical when they sit on your hand. I miss raising those caterpillars and letting them sit in my hand as butterflies, it always brought me immense joy.

We really do need to start respecting all insects. They are self aware and understand more than we give them credit for. They understand that the human is their to help. I just started being friends with butterflies last week, about 10 of them congregate in one area, I guess there’s some kind of nutrients. They are very docile now that I’ve been visiting them every day and they let me scoop them up. Very gently, of course. Sometimes I’ll scoop up two or three at a time by accident because there’s so many end it’s so beautiful. I feel like a princess. I love your content. If not for all of this, I’m not sure I would’ve started thinking about insects this way.

언젠가 산 아래 공원을 산책하다가 팔랑거리는 두 마리의 나비를 발견했습니다. 그런데 한 마리의 날개는 쭈굴쭈굴했고 잘 날지 못했는데 처음에는 장애를 가진 나비라고 생각했습니다. 그리고 다른 한 마리의 나비가 날개가 쭈굴한 나비가 날지 못하고 바닥으로 떨어지려 할 때마다 옆에서 팔랑거리며 다리로 잡아서서는 풀잎 위로 올려주더라고요. 약한 친구를 도와주는 나비라니 감동이 전해졌고 신기했습니다. 한참을 보다가 문득 우화를 마친 나비인가? 그래서 날개가 젖어 있는 것인가 라는 생각이 들었습니다. 산이라 새들이 많은 곳이니 둘 다 잡혀 먹힐 수도 있을 것 같고 풀잎에 돌아다니는 개미들에 의해 죽을 수 있단 생각에 친구 나비에게 너의 친구는 내가 돌봐줄 테니 너는 날아가라고 인사를 하고 날개가 쭈굴한 나비를 저희 집으로 데리고 왔습니다. 그리고 시간이 지나자 놀랍게도 날개가 말라가며 쫙쫙 펼쳐지더라고요. 그래서 집 앞에 산으로 올라가서 고향은 아니지만 잘 살라고 날려보내주었는데 이 영상을 보니 생각나네요. 지금은 세상에 없는 나비지만 그 해 한 계절을 잘 살다 떠났으리라 생각합니다. 제발돼라님의 영상은 자연 속의 작은 생명체의 생명도 매우 소중하게 느껴지게 만듭니다. 고맙습니다.

i remember when i stopped watching PleaseBe because of how sad i was over the death of kiwi. i would always check up on the channel every single day to see a new video of kiwi. i remember watching the first few videos PleaseBe has made and was a small channel to this beautiful channel dedicated to these wonderful animals and creatures.
