I was at the Lubbock Texas windmill museum last Saturday and I saw 3 different open geared aeromotors, it's a shame it can't be restored but it lasted over 100 years and if the customer is happy that's what matters. Glad you saved the tower. Great job and great video.

@@OkieWindmiller I think I heard you say that the gears were seized on the old open- geared wind engine 😢. Some rebuilder with a machine shop could easily make an ornamental mill by removing the large pump gear, pitman arm and crossarm, guides and pump rod, and add a rebuilt wind wheel and tail vane. You would only need to lubricate the hub bearing(s)...

Thank you for the use of the harness. But you are using the wrong one for your tasks the one you have on is for confined spaces it has the D rings on the shoulder only for rescue. I strongly suggest you talk to a local construction trades group see when they have a training class going on and see if you are able to get in it or talk to a trades supplier on information. I teach working at heights here in Ontario it only takes a fall from 6 feet or less the be seriously injured, get a work position harness with some adjustable and non adjustable work position lanyards. You can also get proper tie offs for the top of the tower that are temporary. Sorry love the use of the harness you are thinking the correct way please think of your family and work safe at heights go home to the family every night. Please get the training.

Love watching you guys! You work hard and you guys have integrity! If you might be open to suggestions I always wonder if you would strap a lightweight bucket or bag as you go up a tower with a rope and pulley on it, especially when you have your wife along. You could hook the pulley up there with you and when you needed something as in this video a sawzall you could have your wife drop the bucket, she could put the saw in it and send it up to you. I know it must be frustrating listening to all the suggestions anyway thank you for the videos.

@@OkieWindmiller Well fix it up for a show piece for your business! The neck of the thing can be rotated to get new bearing service several times, you just loosen the bolts and turn it, even if already worn all the way around you can just repour the babbit. The gears can be replaced and the arms are the same as a 502-602 and the sheet metal in the wheel will change out also with a later oil bath. They are extremely rare, I have been in the windmill business since the early 90s and have only found two, I had to drive 5 hours to buy one of them. The days of selling windmills to pump with are fading with all these solar pumps but the days of selling historic mills are just starting so don't junk these rare and expensive mills.
