Pre-33’s are my favorite, even if not the best investment. Lots of history attached to these coins. I focus on Civil War era 1861-1868 dates. True works of art in my opinion.

All my gold coins , except one in my collection are pre-33. I like the designs and you can pick up some very good buys. I'll take a pre-33 over a Panda any day. Thanks for the video Numi.

I would say high grade pre 33 coins would be a good numismatic investment for the future . A small percentage of each date is going to grade high because they were used, where as every Libertad, Queens Beast, Panda, etc. was minted then put in plastic and rarely touched. Everyone goes silly if their new mint coin grades 69 or less but a Pre 33 $10 Indian in 60 or higher is a great find. It seems like the mints in many countries are pumping out a different bullion coin every second week, maybe one day collectors will catch on to being played and turn back to coins with a bit of history.

To me, the pre - 33 gold is probably the best and most reasonable classic golden eye candy out there. I can look at these pieces all day long. Also 50 pesos Mexican gold is up there with them. Perfect Pandas, Libertads, Maple Leaf pieces, etc.are just freshly stamped gold for stackers and perfection investors. However, variety in your stack makes the world go round. Thanks for sharing the beauty of these gold pieces with us all, Numi!

I think that coins should be kept raw if not already graded. The bullion companies have contracts with NGC and PCGS and send in giant orders for grading. They get huge discounts on grading fees and in my opinion they also get higher grades on their coins than they should be. It’s the cost of doing buisness and greed always wins. Those grading companies probably wouldn’t thrive without those big companies and all their huge orders. So never buy a graded coin from Apmex or any company like that. Always buy the coins that are in the older holders. And if you buy pre1933 coins raw, and you like the way they look, keep them that way. You will likely only break even or lose some of your investment to the grading service. Most of the professionals that I talk to agree on this. It is. I will keep all my coins raw until there is a computer that can do the grading without biased and all coins can be graded under the same standards. People have too much emotions and in this day in age do not need to be grading coins. The technology is already here for this to happen. If a person wants to stick a CAC sticker on them than I’m ok with that. But we mit know that it is only in that persons eyes that that particular coin is appealing. Not everyone is looking for the same thing.

One of the best videos on pre 33 gold and grading. I agree that it is likely to purchase graded pre 33 gold for the same money as a raw piece cost. I also agree the Indian full eagle is my personal favorite. Thanks for the video!

Very nice coins. I have also been buying Pre-33 gold when the budget allows. I usually go for the double eagles if the premiums are right. I am also picking up American eagles and Buffalos when I can catch a low premium. Thanks for sharing!!

Pre 1933 I believe is us bullion centric around the gold confiscation order where if it got reenacted they would be exempt? Disadvantage as investment is when you sell its difficult to get close to gold spot as its not standard and so cost of selling is huge because you may be forced to auction or give far biger cut to dealer. Also not cap gains free. Nice to collect if the money is there but in uk I believe would not be great as investment. Thanks for these thought provoking videos from many angles

I'm just starting out a journey of putting together a MS-60+ PRE-33 12 coin type set, got 2 pieces so far and I'm hoping to have all 12 in the next few months. The lower the premiums the better it is for me to get nice coins. just turned 30, by the time I donate this set to grandkids it should be something amazing.

BTW speaking of lack of opportunities? Lower income people get totally screwed over if they want to own some gold ...EVERY sub one ounce coin or bar has a massive premium attached to them then to rub salt in the wounds? If one lives in various stages like California? They charge sales tax of from 7.5% maybe up to 10% dependant on the county but for ALL gold purchased in California you pay sales tax UNLESS the purchase of over $1500 minimum ...generally meaning an ounce or more (maybe it even has to be "monitized" to qualify even then? Which is yet ANOTHER premium) ...How is this okay? Just because someone has less income they have to pay like 30% MORE to participate in owning precious metals??? Angers me personally

I picked up a nice one last year after watching an other one of your videos, a 1904 $20 graded au53 and as you say a nice piece to own and to date my only American coin. Personally I prefer Victorian sovereigns and perhaps Georgian Guineas but nothing is cast in stone or in this case minted in gold.

I'm a little ignorant to the importance of pre 33. Whats the significance? Also that first Indian head you showed the 1915 looks very suspicious. The dirt in the letters is way too randomly placed to be natural. Some letters perfectly clean some completely filled? I smell a rat! The last $20 liberty head is stunning. Why don't modern British bullion coins have that beautiful lustre? They just look over shiny to me, it's a shame really in my opinion

@missinformed4269
@missinformed4269 5 жыл бұрын
In a nutshell prior to 1933 gold was money in the US and afterwards not. On April 5, 1933 President Franklin Roosevelt signed executive order 6102. With that order US circulating gold coin was taken out of circulation. Americans were forbidden to keep anything but a small amount of gold coins and were forced to sell their gold coins back to the banks for $20.67/oz. Subsequently it was illegal for Americans to buy or hold gold coins for investment until 1974. Some people now are of the opinion that since the pre 1933 coins survived the gold seizure they will now be considered “numismatic” and collectors will be allowed to keep them if in the future there is another gold “nationalization”.
