Great podcast full of good conversation and useful information (looking at getting WLP602 when it's in stock). I watched a couple segments out of that TV series and was humiliated to think that's how the rest of the world sees us. That show does more to keep our hobby "unofficial" than anything good we do can fix.

Awesome show, guys. I think making different stuff all the time makes it that much more special. There are only a couple of gallons of this in existence... On the topic of Joe being inspired by Jessie, me too, man. I first got interested in distilling when I was 17 or so. It was like 1988 or 89. I read every book, every forum, and watched every show I could find on distilling. I finally did something about it in 2017 or maybe 2018 watching stillit. I love the channel man, keep it up. You inspire a lot of new distillers. Joe was great, as were so many of your past guests. I've even learned stuff from several guests that I hadn't read before after years and years of obsessing about this hobby. Anyway, only 35 minutes or so in, I'm almost missing the talk about Paw paw, gotta get back to one of my favorite shows... by the way, I would definitely recognize either of you in the Wallmart line 😅

What a show.. JJ is down to earth. Thanks for letting us into his world. LOL I've been a fan of Moonshiners since they started and the WWE reference is spot on. For me its all about the name and where it started. Just like the History you provide with Absinthe, Moonshiners and the spin offs provide that for me. Love the channel Jesse glad to have followed!!!

As one with a horticulture background I can add a little insight to your comments about produce at the 16 minute mark where you were wondering why flavor isn't the key sought after aspect. Commercial suppliers will actually come to producers and researchers and present them with the desirable characteristics of some vegetable or fruit and ask them to produce it for them. For example they will come and show them their packaging component for tomatoes and say "can you make us a tomato that will fit 4 perfectly round-shaped fruits that will fit in this square-shaped styrofoam container?". Or in the case of cucumbers they will come to them with with some jar and say "can you make us a cucumber that will be this long and this diameter such that we can fit this many whole pickles in this jar?" I worked for the largest potato company in the world and most of our potatoes were grown for the largest fast food restaurant chain in the world and our potatoes had to be a certain length and diameter with other specific qualities for their french fries. We carefully controlled all aspects of growing in order to force the plants to more often than not produce the potatoes they required.

Americans mean another fruit when they say "Pawpaw." They mainly mean Asimina triloba, which is a large fruit that cannot be shipped due to handling issues. It is sorta a banana or vanilla custard tasting fruit.

They sell named varieties at fruit tree nurseries. One of the few fruits that don't mind both partial shade and damp conditions. In fact, a famous pawpaw grower is from PA and named all his varieties after regional rivers: Wabash, Shenandoah, Potomac, Allegany....

@@akiwi2562 That's a shame mate, although chuck a bit of salt and chilli on the unripe ones, they are tasty that way.
