@@robevans5507 Ha ha, mate I am from the oldschool as well. I saw Carl Cox in the Eclipse. I think it was 91. What was better then was the crowd. They were there for the big names but you couldn't hardly see the DJ. The box was usually hidden away in a corner, and nobody cared. They didn't literally worship the DJs like they do now. It gets cringy now. Saying that I do ocasionally go to clubs now, and it is still a good buzz.

Today it seems the progression we do get is not going anywhere really innovative and the passion for the music is gone with artists and producers mailing it in. But like you said, James Hype is out here killing it, making edm fun again! It's not his fault that his contemporaries are not leveling up.

@@donobrien1850 so just because you can't see the change does mean there is none? a BIG part of electric dance music is remixing existing stuff into something new. if you really want to see big changes, then you should take a look at small artists, not the big ones! also you should follow the producers, not the DJs! AND you should think out of the box and spread your playlist between a dozen of subgenres. then maybe you are able to see a bit of the change.

The set isn’t pre-recorded LOL. Track lists allow you to focus more on the music and not searching, cueing etc… I never use headphones, don’t need them if your list is set and you know your tracks, even if the musics new, just name the cue point. “Intro - Break - Build etc. Every DJ i know preps, creates cues, cuts out sections using Flip in Serato for example. Setting up your track list allows for cleaner flowing/harmonic mixes without the fuss and worry of tracks maybe not flowing like one thought.

I got some news for you, most DJs play a pre-recorded set especially at large events. The exceptions are typically DJs who have record players or someone like Araarab Muzak Who plays MPc sample boxes live. The only thing that matters, is that the music comes out perfect, and everybody has fun. I don’t care if it’s pre-recorded, as long as it sounds good. And he the guy is making at least 5 to 10 grand to press a few buttons
