To be fair, I think Dirk's strange ability to have to be aware of all of his alternate selves would speak volumes in what he decided to do to prepare Dave. Granted Bro and Dirk aren't completely the same person, but we can see that Dream Dirk has a strange amount of self awareness that most false iterations of other characters don't have of the alpha timeline.

Man I sure love all the people just talking about this being "Child Abuse" the theme..... Christ. And I thought the undertale community goes overboard sometimes.... well i guess I cant blame them much. Homestuck touches on a LOT of subjects that are highly controversial, although I feel like people forget the basis of it making fun of itself. I mean look at Kankri, like the definition of tumblr right there. Everyone talking about child abuse as if it's so simple.... like are we going to act as if none of the other guardians weren't irresponsible/abusive in their own ways? Face the facts people, raising children isn't an easy thing to do. And in Bro's case raising a child that fucking fell to earth on a flaming pony is pretty damn impressive. Like... all my aunt did was give me crippling depression and zero cool ninja abilities.
