cobalt (ie vriska's) is actually missing, the "teal" bar is too green and the next one is more teal obviously not a deliberate choice so much as a mistake though on the other hand karkat isn't there, probably deliberately (of course, his would look just like aradia's since the brightness and saturation are pumped way up)

Elaborating on Egor Matuk's theory on the haemospectrum, allow me to throw in my two boondollars. I believe that troll blood is determined on varying factors: immune systems, pH levels and the concentration of minerals and oxygen in their bodies. Mutants like Iron bloods or Lime bloods have very weak immune systems with a pH level of either 1 or 14 and have a mineral and oxygen concentration that is the same as humans. Low bloods have medium pH levels, slightly weak immune systems and have mineral and oxygen concentrations very slightly higher than humans. This leaves them susceptible to mutations, such as pupating wings before God Tier (Rufioh, looking at you) Mid bloods have low alkaline or acidic pH levels with moderate immune systems and slightly higher mineral and oxygen concentration. High bloods have perfectly neutral pH levels with strong immune systems, high mineral and oxygen concentrations (which gives them higher endurance in a physical fight as they have high levels of oxygen for aerobic respiration) and naturally thick muscle tissue.

i have a theory on why troll blood is multicolored : you know how we have blood types? so trolls have them too, but the antigens of troll blood have color when the blood cells themselves are clear, that makes for the color of blood. and that explains the tear color too because it's possible that troll tears contain a little bit of blood. also the thing with sea trolls, you know how there are multiple breeds of cats and dogs? yeah.

One could say that the colors of blood have varying effectiveness at combating disease, or delivering oxygen. It could then be stated that more advanced sorts of blood require different amounts of nutrition or that the lifespans are designed to better meet their Lusi, which would explain why the entire species would consist of more than just high end- a larger population of them would be unsustainable. Additionally anything with fuschia blood would get ground to a pulp by the Condescension so those genes would barely be around at all. One can see the same happening for purples and sea dwellers.
