Pre Spawn Transition Bass Fishing - Limits BFL Series

Tournament 2 takes us back to Dale Hollow as we do some pre spawn transition bass fishing. My back is against the wall after a zero in tournament number 1. Can I dig myself out of the hole and get back on track to make the regains? Watch and find out what happens in the LIMITS series.

What is the secret to allowing an A-rig to sink w/o fouling it up?

Put slightly heavier weights on the bottom and when the bait hits the water I give it just a small tug then let it fall on slack line again.

Great job Hank! Stoked you got on them on Tourney day and really nice you got a solid boater to ride along with! I do have a question, why no footage during fishing on Tourney day? Is that rules of the Tournament or more as respect to your boater?

It's as respect to my boater. If it was my boat my spots I don't care to show it. I don't even like to ask the boater I think it puts them in a no win situation. If they say no then here's some KZbin guy that might make them out to be an asshole. They don't know me and if I'm a good guy or not. So then they say yes and now I'm sharing the spots they have worked so hard to find. I would love to film during a tournament but as a Co I just feel it's better not to. When I fish'em out of my boat It will be another thing alllllll together. Hell I show all my holes anyway. lol. Thanks man for asking and for watching. I haven't forgotten ya. It's just been a tough start to the year. I'll explain sometime.

Awesome video. Great info! Quick questions ... You referenced finding fish near grass. Any particular type of grass you look for? I'm assuming it's not super heavy that early in the year. When you found the last deep water in the creek, did you sit on the break and cast shallow or just fish it deep? Thanks for sharing your knowledge

WadersandWoods actually it was deep hydrilla and it was very thick just didn’t reach the surface. The tops where about 20ft deep. I was using a lighter head letting it drop and rest on the top of the grass and start reeling. As for the deep water near the backs of the creeks we were casting shallow and working deep. Most bites came 10ft off the bank in about 10 to 15 ft deep

Andrew Kay Well a lot has to do with your schedule. A great place to start is a club. Either a team club (if you have a buddy with a boat) or a draw club. I know a lot of guys hate fishing draws because it’s not comfortable to fish with guys you don’t know. However you can reeeeeeally learn from those guys. Fishing with different people can let you know where you stand. Now for me the BFL’s are perfect. Yes they are more expensive but they also payout more and you fish fewer tournaments than most clubs. So the money evens out. The bigger the prize the better the anglers that come out to fish also. So the likelihood that you get to fish with some of the best in your area is pretty good. Good luck and don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. I’ll help all I can feel free to holler at me.

I saw where you had yellow line on your spinning reel. I would like to be able to see my line better but friends tell me that the bass can see yellow line and I wont get as many bites. What is your experience with the yellow line?

I use a leader. So the main line is either yellow or pink. My leader is Fluorocarbon and 8-20 feet long. So it don't spook the fish.

Caleb Brown In the BFL’s you and the boater are random draw. Helps keep the cheating down and you get to fish with a lot of different people.

Yeah but it was more about the Arig.I caught my first 2 on the Boom Shad swim bait and my last 2 on the Arig. I did catch 3 more off the Arig but they were all 1 in short. So I never could get no. 5. Last deep steep bank in the creek and all came off laydowns.

Heavy Arig around the big wood. He was just in a different location doing it a little different. Last deep water in the backs of big creeks. Fishing it fast.
