Hey bud I know you probably already have it but I figured I would bring it up. Don't forget some extra food and I would download the maps to your phone just in case! Good luck and I look forward to the videos!!

Have you already done a trial cooking of the knorr pasta sides? if you haven't you might. Some don't rehydrate well from what I understand, you may need to simmer some and or adjust your water volumes. Looking fwd to the video(s) best of luck.

I learned on the trail the hard way after making some accidental rice soup. I found that using half the water that the package calls for works great.

Jason are you going to do a video on the gear you are taking on the superior hike

Hi. Gross Weight of packing list? How long before would you train before a epic trip like this.
@FrozensAdventures11 ай бұрын
It's been a while but I think it was about 2lbs a food a day. Training consists of going hiking a decent bit and stretching to stay loose.

I'm digging the food prep. I'm doing the Never Summer wilderness trail soon and your style of preparation was really helpful.

Where did you get the sugar packets?

+TNiss54 I got 1000 count empty bags on Amazon. They are 2" x 1" they make perfect containers for medicines and sugar

Love the organization with laying it all out day to day. Also like the way you printed off all those maps and taped them together for your mom-- will probably do the same for mine the next time I'm out for multiple days.. noticed you did that before for one of your thrus on the LHHT.. great vid Jason- really enjoying all of them. Your always on point and have lots of great info. Good luck on this trip and have fun man!

Have you looked at solar power charger to top off your big battery while hiking? Seems like some you could strap to the outside of your bag and just charge up the whole day. Dunno how effective they are, but maybe in your situation worth the slight added weight?
@FrozensAdventures7 жыл бұрын
On my side of the country they aren't too effective. You have to be in the sun a lot for those to work properly. Out west it might be better, for someone hiking the Pacific Crest Trail or something.
@JosephRobertsonCoffee7 жыл бұрын
gotcha. hopefully that tech will improve before too long.

I'm gonna have to try that trail bar recipe. Sounds healthy but lots of energy. Moms worry, mine does the same.

Check out EFS syrup flasks. Primarily for bikers/runners, they provide a quick burst of energy, electrolytes, and come in 3 flavors, 400 calories each. Also, refillable. I've also found Columbia Omni heat base layers effective. Good Luck!

Try the trader joe's instant coffee! It has the sugar and creamer pre mixed in and tastes AMAZING! You can even grab it on amazon if you don't have a Trader Joe's locally! In my opinion it's way better than the Starbucks instant coffee.

Question: On part one of this video you stated that there are strict camping restrictions on your route. Do you know why they do this? I think is stupid but there has to be a reason that I am not aware. Thanks.
@FrozensAdventures7 жыл бұрын
I'm sure it's to protect the area. You would have car campers galore pulling up and trashing the place.

Have you thought of bringing dry powdered milk to make the pasta sides by knor a lot better.also you can add it to milk , coffee . Etc..☺
@FrozensAdventures7 жыл бұрын
I've thought about it a couple times because it would solve me always having to go buy coffee mate, would make my oatmeal taste better, and like you pointed out the knor sides. Maybe i'll try that soon. Thanks for the suggestion.
@arcana19737 жыл бұрын
I use the knor packets all the time. Some trips I bring jerky and add it while the water is boiling. Teriyaki jerky with the teriyaki noodles are my go to meal. So good

Hey Jason, Nice video again, thanks! I get the whole organization idea behind packaging everything seperately. Especially for dinner it makes sense. But don't you think having a seperate ziplock bag each day for snacks, sugar, electrolyte replacements and whatnot is a bit much? I mean, weight is one thing but all that plastic waste... Wouldn't it be possible to put all the M&Ms for one section in one bag and then eat out of that for example. Or let's say all the sugar for your morning coffee or couscous etc. I mean you're gonna carry it through one section anyway. Why not safe a little weight and more importantly, some plastic? I did a 2-week trip in Sweden one summer with only one resupply and I carried all the coffee and sugar I needed for the entire trip in one bag. I measured I need (for example) one spoon of coffee mix and half a spoon of sugar each morning. That way I didn't need to pack everything seperately. Same works for nuts or raisins and stuff. Just needs a little discipline when snacking ;-) And you don't create that much trash, that you have to carry out again. Let me know what you think. Looking forward to your videos of the trip! Cheers
@FrozensAdventures7 жыл бұрын
+Philipp Al you make a good point. I could have combined the snack into a bigger bag. However I'm forcing myself on this trip to stay in a specific calorie intake. Usually my snack bag is a quart size Ziploc with everything in it and I just pick from there. For this trip is wanted to make sure I was eating the right amount due to calories. Each little snack bag weighs 3.5oz . But yes I should be a bit better with waste.

so looking forward to these videos. nice. when is your estimation of the first upload? btw. you're quite an organized guy. are you an accountant or IT person? pls make sure Shirtless Gary is shirtless around 60% of the trip

After thursday's QA. There won't be any activity on the channel I'm hoping the monday following the weekend I get back I'll be able to have the Day 0 video done. While I'm working on that video I'll be transferring the video files from the trip to my pc. (it takes quite a while) And yes I am an IT guy.

you are a KZbinr. Logically if I was you, I would break the video into each section of the hike. I think There's 8 full section/part of the full superior trail. Break it into 8 parts, release it each once every weekend. Now you have 2 month of video to upload 👍👍👍 have fun be safe.
