Jesse asks some questions, and God doesn't really give anything interesting, he seems to only want his Love, although he has bitten out Jesse's eye, sounds like a stupid thing.. This God seems schizophrenic. Would you love a God who caused you so much misery and suffering? of course not.

@@thelunaticfrenzy2957 Time to enlightened you blind faith follower. *The Serpent: Enemy of Man, Or Enlightener Of Man?* - Introduction: What proper way to start off a blog dealing in Gnosticism than in the beginning…the beginning according to biblical tradition that is. Let’s discuss a major figure within the first few chapters of Genesis, *the Serpent.* According to the traditional Christian thought, Adam and Eve were created by a god named Yahweh (often translated as LORD, Adonai, or Jehovah, Allah) who placed them in a garden and told them that they could eat from every tree and plant in the garden, except the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge of Good & Evil. The Serpent then appears in the garden and supposedly so-called tempts Eve into eating from the Tree of Knowledge. Eve then goes to Adam and gives him the fruit to eat as well. Yahweh later becomes aware of this and banishes the couple from the garden. He also then curses the Serpent and declares it an enemy. Because of this, many refer to the Serpent as Satan or Lucifer. However, Genesis never refers to the Serpent as either title. Becoming Satan: The identification of the Serpent as Satan or Lucifer comes from established Christian theology. Christians believe that Satan was once an angel named Lucifer who rebelled against Yahweh and was thrown out of heaven. This theology usually begins with the verse Isaiah 14:12-14: *“HOW ART THOU FALLEN FROM HEAVEN, O LUCIFER, SON OF THE MORNING! HOW ART THOU CUT DOWN TO THE GROUND, WHICH DIDST WEAKEN THE NATIONS! FOR THOU HAST SAID IN THINE HEART, I WILL ASCEND INTO HEAVEN, I WILL EXALT MY THRONE ABOVE THE STARS OF GOD: I WILL SIT ALSO UPON THE MOUNT OF THE CONGREGATION, IN THE SIDES OF THE NORTH: I WILL ASCEND ABOVE THE HEIGHTS OF THE CLOUDS; I WILL BE LIKE THE MOST HIGH.”* A verse from the New Testament Luke 10:18 also reinforces this idea: *“AND HE SAID UNTO THEM, I BEHELD SATAN AS LIGHTNING FALL FROM HEAVEN.”* Then finally this verse ties Lucifer, Satan, and the Serpent together, Revelation 12:9: *“AND THE GREAT DRAGON WAS CAST OUT, THAT OLD SERPENT, CALLED THE DEVIL, AND SATAN, WHICH DECEIVETH THE WHOLE WORLD: HE WAS CAST OUT INTO THE EARTH, AND HIS ANGELS WERE CAST OUT WITH HIM.”* At first it may seem justifiable to uphold the Christian theology when picking out and isolating these verses alone. However when you go and study these verses within their source material, their original context differs from the established theology. The very first thing that must be understood is these verses all come from three separate books within the Bible. One verse comes from the Old Testament section while the other two come from the New Testament. That means they were all written at different times in history by different authors. They had never met each other and historically would have had different world views. For example, the Isaiah verse within the Old Testament is a Jewish text. Looking into the Jewish theology concerning that verse reveals it is not referring to Satan or a fallen angel. Rather, it is referring to a man, an unnamed king of Babylon. This becomes apparent when you continue reading the verses that follow - Isaiah 14:15-17: *“YET THOU SHALT BE BROUGHT DOWN TO HELL, TO THE SIDES OF THE PIT. THEY THAT SEE THEE SHALL NARROWLY LOOK UPON THEE, AND CONSIDER THEE, SAYING, IS THIS THE MAN THAT MADE THE EARTH TO TREMBLE, THAT DID SHAKE KINGDOMS; THAT MADE THE WORLD AS A WILDERNESS, AND DESTROYED THE CITIES THEREOF; THAT OPENED NOT THE HOUSE OF HIS PRISONERS?”* Jewish tradition has a concept of Satan, but it is not an absolute evil or the enemy of god. The original Hebrew term, שָּׂטָן‎ “satan”, is a noun from a verb meaning to, “obstruct, oppose”. Numbers 22:22, 1 Samuel 29:4, and Psalms 109:6 are examples of such. Ha-Satan most often translates as “the accuser,” or “the adversary”. The definite article “ha” (which is the English “the”) shows this is a title, versus a name.

This show tackles an image of God that I've always held tightly when I was forced through Christian bible study as a kid. I viewed it as God is no better than a child yearning for praise and love. He essentially asks you to worship hip in exchange for favors and good fortune. That always rang more like a devil to me than a God. Like a flawed human, rather than a God. A true God is both certain of his worth and doesn't need others validation or worship. This is a message I wish that till this day I could convey to my Christian parents but it's no use, they're brainwashed by this idea that I was born of divine miracles etc etc.

@@tommeytoo-me5255your argument is invalid on a premise level. A human being with an ant brain is not something valued in society. If the only difference between a childish, petulant god and a childish petulant human with a god complex is the level of divinity, then you're not dealing with a higher level of consciousness, you're dealing with a lower one. If an ant were capable of reasoning with and communicating with us to say, stop trampling on their nests, it would be our duty as moral beings more powerful than them to heed that plea even if it interferes with our grand plan to bulldoze that field and build a shopping mall even if it comes from something we consider to be insignificant to us. Any higher tier of morality must fit into the same framework as the lower tiers, hypocrisy from humans is not tolerated so it ESPECIALLY shouldn't be tolerated from divine beings.

@@Ben-rz9cf You seem to have misunderstood my point . A human being with an ants brain? When did I suggest that, Where are you getting that from? The point was that its impossible for an ant to understand the mind of a human. Why would a human have an ants brain? Ok let’s use this example then. Let’s say there’s a being from a higher dimension out there somewhere, let’s say the 8th dimension . Would a two dimensional being perceive and understand reality the same? Would It be possible for a 2 dimensional being to understand the mind of an 8th dimensional one? Once again your view is through the lens of a human. Who says a higher being has the same “morality” systems as humans? That’s the point. You’re projecting your views and beliefs about how things should be done or how you would do them unto someone it’s impossible for you to understand. If a higher dimensional being sees though everything. time and space, etc. How is it possible to understand their decisions? For all you know they’re making decisions based on something that will happen 1000 years in the future. Once again, that’s the point. Imagine you’re playing 6d chess while someone who’s only ever played ping pong tries to guess your thoughts and chess strategies. Doesn’t make much sense huh?

The truth is, we may never truly understand God and the answers we expect to get if we had the opportunity to ask him questions like this. God sees the bigger picture, and that's putting it mildly. He's infinite, sees all of existence at any and all time all at once. His perception of existence is way beyond our own. So to even think our contemporary human values are remotely in line with his is laughable. How we judge one another and ourselves may very well not be close to how god judges us. To him, devout or atheistic, straight or gay, christian or otherwise, etc. May mean nothing to him and what he looks for in people may be more basic.

@kingofsouls8346 Happy too. It's like someone else singing a cover of a really great song, but it's really badly done. All the notes are there, the tunes the same, but the beats off. For example, in the comic, Jessie and Tulip are madly in love. This love drives the story forward. Casssidy is a bastard but finds redemption. The supporting characters have more depth. Starr has a better arc, going from trying to save the world to ultimately dying piece by piece on revenge quest. In series, they spend too much time in one place, Jessie and Tulip have no chemistry , Cassidys relegated to a supporting character and God shows up too much. The only thing they got right was the Saint of Killers, but he gets nerfed for a good long while.

What he represented has changed so much, at one point he was a human sacrifice demanding tyrant, then as the religion became unpopular they just re imagined him as something else. Then tried to humanize him with a kid on earth to be more relatable, then turned back into a hatemonger, then into something else. In a way this God seems the most accurate, more of this creature that demands worship that he equates as love, so needy for validation because there is nothing superior to him in his eyes he needs to get it from those below him.

I sincerely believe, if there is one or two things worthwhile to live for, it is to love others and make everyone's life as peaceful and pain free as possible and to help one another and cherish one another. I believe after life, we continue on to eternity in a different dimension, the only different thing there is, after death, we can no longer change, since we are already immortal. So this world, an imperfect world, a world of change, was made to give us our full potential, either becoming perfect like a diamond, or worthless like coal. The journey is what matters most.

Can someone make a series on islamic prophet like this ? I challenge anyone to do it. Even there are only 24 percent of muslim population in the world then also they will tear down everyone involved in the making of it. If chrisitans are tolerant doesnt mean you will torture them for being tolerant about their beliefs. Meanwhile you cannot show the muslim prophet's life in this manner even though he was pathetic according to the most authentic isalmic sources. So it doesnt take guts to mock Christianity in such a manner but it requires guts to go against islam and mock it. And i know no one has it. Because if they do there will be carnage over films.

But if someone even writes a book about islamic prophet in the narration of his life's events he is hated across the globe and even attempted to eliminate like we can relate to Salman Rushdie. So they completely know who their audience are. And in thousand years they cannot make it possible to attack him even though he did what here is portrayed by god of the bible in this series. So Christianity is suffering because christ never tried to implement his laws on anyone. and as always the rest of the world takes it for granted. Peace.

I don't think that you have to be an atheist or irreligious to enjoy this show. Yes, and I am not a muslim, neither do I interact with the muslim people, we don't have them in my country at all, so I really cannot tell you my experience, but I can tell you from talking to people online - the Islamic people are the most passionate - and Extreme about their faith out of all religions, I can tell you this is very true. And that is the reason why I despise this religion probably even more than Judaism and Christianity, because they are probably even more willing to ''Kill in the name of God'' and if you think it's a different God - think twice, it is an Abrahamic God both for The bible and the Quran, it's absolutely 100% the same deity, which is corrupt and failed / flawed god, that most people with common sense will realise that it is an invention of the humans living in that period of time of yore and in those regions of Sumeria.

I mean...people have already made hitpieces on Islam and are still alive so getting ripped apart by angry muslims is by no means a guarantee. You also have to realize that the overwhelming majority of violence in the muslim world comes from several regions with low literacy, economic and political instability, and organizations who have their roots firmly planted in fighting "foreign powers" to a point where their very survival as institutions relies pretty much entirely on having enemies to fight so they can control the populace with fear. That kind of cocktail will turn pretty much any ideology/dogma into something horrid. After all, I'm pretty sure there's a massive muslim population in southeast Asia, but they have nowhere NEAR the same level of exported terrorism as several parts of the Middle East do, and that's because they have entirely different socio-political environments and histories. Sure, they obviously have their own problems galore, but that's the human race in a nutshell. We have to remember that our faiths and ideologies are made and shaped by US firstly and foremost. Keep in mind the same companies that fund this stuff also won't openly mock China or Israel, and there are obviously several other no-no topics they don't like to get into for fear of outrage/pushback.

I'm not even a believer, but I understand the basic concepts and premises of God better than the professional writers who couldn't get past their own daddy issues when writing this scene. Let's make it so simple even a Hollywood Writer on 20 pounds worth of daily Antidepressants can understand it: Choice. We are given the freedom and the power of choosing our own path. If He swoops down from on high every single time bad things happen, then we're not Free at all. At best we're 30 year olds living in Dad's basement. Or well-kept pets. Now yes, many weaklings reading this WANT to live under mommy's skirts for the rest of eternity. The rest of us? Not so much. God ain't your fairy godmother, or a genie in a lamp, or superman patrolling the skies in search of crashing plains to rescue and raging fires to put out. He just built us a great big giant sandbox and turned us loose in it, for better or worse. The rest is on us. He doesn't even send you to Hell or Welcome you to Heaven. Your own choices do that. The life you CHOOSE to live does that. Because CHOICE is the one and only power He bestows on us. He tells us the best way to get to Heaven, but leaves it for us to CHOOSE whether or not we follow the path laid out. So, if you believe, or have tons of doubt but aren't completely closed off to the possibility....then choose wisely. God is basically the ultimate "Tough Love" dad, but writ large on a cosmic scale. Willing to sit back and watch you shove that fork into the light socket and let you learn the hard way. Willing to let the other kids on the playground whup on you until to grow a pair and fight back. And if you CHOOSE to see that as evil or more as a "derelict dad", well...He gave you the power of Choice, knowing you might choose to reject Him. So be it. The consequences are on you, then.

@Holden Mcgroine this is Old Testament God so pandemonium and destruction to reboot the franchise is not out of character for him (He caused the Great flood after all.) . New Testament God is the most famous as he is the Benvolent version/interpretation and was the one that is the basis of Christian belief as in Christians believe that JC made God less angry and more forgiving than He was. (this as in the Preacher interpretation, seems like an alternate version where instead of God just Chilling on his Fiery throne of light he instead snapped.)

@@lopolik it might help that the Bible is well a Bible, a collection of different interpretations and works of many different authors not to mention the fact that it was translated over the course of 2000 years so mistranslation can happen. (Unicorn/Rhino as an example is really just oxen.)

God doesn't do things or set things up in our life to make us love him. It's a decision we show love for god when we follow his rules. Praise is an expression of gratitude but also everything is involve with adoration, you show who you are with the decisions and the path you chose to take. If you love god you'll do good by yourself and others but if love yourself you will do anything to satisfy your own desires that often lead to evilness. God doesn't demand from us praise or love but ironically that's the only way we can live in peace. Because we came from god he is our matrix, he is the source of our existence. If you don't love the source of your existence or you are detached from it, it means you are lost.

I know this is a show and all, but nah I hate and find that's a dumb reason for kids to have cancer. Just to teach us to be stronger. So a child must suffer, and die, just so us healthy people can become stronger? Like an adult dying of natural causes, that's understandable because it's their time, but a child getting cancer is just..dumb.

God doesn't allow suffering because it teaches people to be strong. The world is imperfect in many ways, including physical suffering, because mankind chose to disobey God and go their own way. Our sinful nature is what brought suffering into the world, including kids with cancer; don't blame it on God. He gave us paradise once, and we turned our backs on him. Then he gave us a rescue plan so that we can achieve paradise again, called Jesus Christ- and too many of us still turn our backs on him. A world without cancer or war or poverty or greed or envy can still be had. All it takes is faith.

And who gave us this sinful nature? Bingo. It was God. Yes, and why not blame it on God? If you believe the bible, then he caused the humans to sin in the first place, and even if you say, it's Adam and Eve's fault then ok.. Only they should have suffered but we all suffer and have sinful nature, and it's not our fault that we have the So Called Sinful nature, so none of this is our fault.. We are in this life, which is HELL, and we don't even know why, what did we do to deserve this punishment?

@@lopolik why do we as people have to ridicule to an extent of what other people believe I mean I’m not saying your freedom of speech is denied but I’m saying is it’s just a show y’all god also have us the choice to choose to believe in him or not regardless of who you are lol I’m Catholic and I think the show is funny and a good show

@@AlexSanchez-ev8jk I'm not ridiculing, but sort of pointing out the flaws in believing that the God of the bible is not responsible for our sinful nature.. So it's not making fun, it is like pointing out a fact that ''hey, God put the tree and he put Satan next to the tree'' he pretty much also knew that they will sin and disobey him, and he let it happen.. So how is it the fault of humans again? It's not, we are set to fail.
