haunt is a debuff on the mob, same as sunder etc. it affects all your spells as soon as it lands. It doesn't work the same way as your damage spells. It will buff all your spells

For that video his main addon for dot tracking is classtimer (the bars on the right side of the screen that you see shrinking as the dot times are ticking.) And as for seeing the dots on the mobs the addon is tidyplates, I believe, could be wrong though.

would love to see a "raiders guide to aff locks" .. i understand the basics of the aff lock in dungeons.. and i understand the basics carry over.. but like a basic guide as to when is basic terms when a lock would need to change talents.. an your ui .. in particular the add-on that shows the dots on individual mobs

Ahh Preach, was nervous about the changes to locks in mop so I didn't get the expansion on my lock's account... Now I'm seeing what you can do as an afflic lock in 5's and miss it =( sad day to be me right? I was bummed out in cata cause my 5man dps was so garbage not having that burst. Well I guess I still have a fire mage, so that will have to do till I can figure a way to transfer my lock. Holla from the US, keep it up my man, you rock!

Just a little side note on the Dark Soul macro, You can actually just put "Dark Soul" there without it's subtitle so tot speak so it'll work regardless of spec.

Funny thing I was surpriced about his dps on this boss so I replayed and saw it again and noticed the resin stack. Then I tried to go and do it with my own warlock and I made 300k dps :P Made my day ^_^

I've found that i'm usually better off using haunt as often as possible, only saving one shard for the soul drain phase. During the soul drain phase on bosses you generate more shards than you need so as long as you have one for 20% you maximize your haunt up time.

Using Soulburn + Soul Swap doesn't cause Soul Swap to go on CD. So as long as you have the Shards, you can keep instantly putting all DoTs up. So if you have 3 mobs, you can Soulburn + Soul Swap 2 targets and then Soul Swap the 2nd target instantly and then copy those DoTs onto the 3rd target (bearing in mind that will put it on CD). And at 20%, you don't stop refreshing DoTs. Drain Soul does the same as Malefic Grasp (But 100% instead of 50% DoT ticks). Keep DoTs and Haunt up while channeling.

The dots do instantly benefit from haunt, they take a screenshot of your stats and wont benefit from procs that procced after the dot was applied, however!, haunt is a debuff, its not a change in your stats, it increases the targets damage taken, including from the dots :P

Let me just say: I absolutely LOVE MoP locks. So much fun to play, and I got my warlock from 11-85 in about 2 weeks just so I can enjoy all the dots and soulburning I could get into. My lock is currently lvl89, and Breaking peoples spirits in BG's. But, now I want to get into Raiding. I have never been a raider, I know nothing about it, and I noticed you not using a pet in this instance you were in... So, is that recommended, or what?

Normally before I seed I soulburn a curse of elements.. really helps sky rocket your dos..

you should put on haunt after you have sould swaped your dots on for more dmg. or else you will lose 1 tick of dots withouth haunt. so the opening should look like: curse>souldswap>haunt>MG

Preach, a question, as you say, dots take a screenshot of your stats so to speak, and apply the damage from that, so if a buff procs you recast for a better dot. So wouldn't it be better to just cast Haunt when you're putting new dots on? Surely if the dot is already on, putting a Haunt on halfway through would not increase the dot damage until it is refreshed? Or is it different because it is a buff to the target, not yourself? Thus far i've only been casting Haunt when refreshing dots. Thanks.

Also another question, would it be a dps increase to reforge 10% less haste and use glyph of Dark Soul to reach the nearest haste breakpoint , and stack the lost haste into more mastery for stronger dots? Thinking about it, if you're at haste breakpoint, is another 30percent haste going to give you more ticks? And if it does will that extra tick be more dps than the added mastery?

Ah okay, that's what i was thinking. i could have just tested this on a test dummy but i was in bed. I got thrown out because some warlock was watching me dps like mike said (keeping haunt on as much as possible) and he told me to only cast haunt when refreshing dots. And my dps went up. Oh well. It's hard to dps test afllic on dummies because you run out of shards due to not soul draining

you probaly said it already, but it seems to be possible to soulburn seed, and then apply a normal one right after, ending up with a double. Is that still recommended?

But the haste buff wont give you anything will it? Since you wont get any extra ticks? Blowing 30 percent extra haste will be fruitless unless you gain an extra tick from it. So wouldn't it be better just to have the mastery?

Wrong. With pandemic you effectively do not lose ticks of DoTs. The idea pull is Potion > Curse > Haunt > DS:M+SB+SS > MG
