Three attempts at a perfecting a short field landing in a Piper Cherokee 140 single engine aircraft. In this cockpit flying video I make three attempts at spot landing a Piper Cherokee 140 single engine aircraft on the numbers at a short field airport with obstacles on short final approach.
The first landing was high and fast; my final approach was 70kts/80mph. It was a smooth landing, however I was shooting for landing the aircraft on the numbers. The second landing attempt was shorter and slower; 65kts/75mph, however the glide path placed the aircraft about 100ft past the numbers. In my third attempt I reduced my speed to 65kts/75mph earlier in the final approach to landing and that allowed the aircraft to sink faster, which caused me to NAIL IT, right on the numbers.
This flying video was shot at my home field of Goose Creek Airport 28A. As a private pilot renting aircraft, I was flying on of the airport’s club aircraft - N897MB - a Piper Cherokee 140 single engine aircraft. This airport is located just south of Charlotte North Carolina.
