John, this was so what I needed to know. Hey...you know when I store my cutters I save those absorption packs from pills, vitamins, etc..and put them in the drawers I store specific metal tools in., but I place them way in the back so I do not accidentally pull one out where my pets may get it. It helps. Thanks again..I just purchased those centering dies from your added link. ..Your such a cutie patootie. P.S. I just got my beautiful wooden work bench with drawers and my 5 speed drill press. I am in heaven..who said diamonds are a girls best friend ? !

Can you put air chased copper in the hole cutter?
@OnlineJewelryAcademy5 жыл бұрын
Hi Julie, First the term "air chased" made me shudder. Forming operations should be performed against a surface to ensure that the metal doesn't develop cracks. If it isn't worked in that way, you do need to take steps to properly compact the material once you've achieved the desired shape. OK, back to your question... The disc cutter is designed to only accept flat sheet metal. Additionally, if you were to put a piece of sheet that had been distorted into the disc cutter, the cutting action will certainly flatten it around the edges of the resulting disc. In short, you'll need to saw out your discs from your formed sheet. Thanks for your support! : )

Thank you so much. Also, is it ok to make a hole on the base of the bezel using that tool so that I can have both sides visible? I havent seen anyone do that yet so Im wondering.
@OnlineJewelryAcademy5 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's perfectly fine to remove material from the bearing plate that will support a stone in a bezel setting. A faster way to achieve the result you desire would be to use step bezel wire. The OJA has several videos on bezel wire and stone setting included in its playlist. You'll find the complete playlist at: www.onlinejewelryacademy.com. Good luck with your projects. Thanks! Those disc centering dies aren't as expensive as I thought they would be. I one day hope to be able to afford that disc cutter though. I like that it presses down and holds the piece in place.
