Nicest bolt action 223. I have ever seen on KZbin really makes you appreciate the small cartridge, Bolt actions more.

I agree on why you chose .223. I too am a family on a budget, so my rifles shoot what i can afford off the shelf, plus I prefer to have the same ammunition for multiple platforms for ease of mass storage (.223, .22, 9mm mainly). Great rifle, thanks for sharing. Good luck with building your home and homestead.

Thats a beautiful looking Cerakote job👌 i love my Vision Chassis on my AI and i shoot Factory .308 in the UK for a similar reason you're shooting .223! Subbed

I'm pick'n up what you're putt'n down with the 223 cartridge. I do handload and I still chose the 223. Now matter how you slice that pie, a jug of powder at 24 grains a shot lasts a lot longer than 44 grains a shot. On a side note, building a custom rifle isn't cheap, I think I did a pretty good job keeping the costs under control with the choices I made. I started with a factory rifle that needed a barrel replacement and skipped having the action trued. The original set up shot very well so I saw no need to spend gunsmith money. I ordered a shouldered pre-fit barrel and installed/head spaced it my self. By the time I replaced the factory stock, bottom metal, re-used the bipod, and adding new glass, I'm all up for about $1600. Now I have a tac class rifle that can double as an F-TR rig all while shooting a very cost effective round. Howa 1500 short action PTG AICS compatible bottom metal ( with 3 MDT 10 round mags) GRS Berserk stock 26 inch McGowen 7.7 twist heavy palma contour barrel (read .875 at the muzzle) NightForce 20 MOA pic rail (reused my Burris tactical rings)

I cant personally disagree with your reasoning. Many years ago i set out to build an accurate rifle which was a 223. It took many years of piecing together as things came on the market and money allowed. Actually just finished it last month. Running 1/2 MOA at 50 yds (thats all i can currently shoot). I think many guys treat rifles and ammo like theyre pickups and other toys. Gotta have the latest greatest new thing. The reality is that most of us can get away with 2 shotguns, 2 rifles and a 22 and you can go anywhere and hunt anything you want in North America. Beautiful build by the way! Cant wait to see how she shoots!
