Precision Rimfire is Fun and Challenging with MARS

Precision rimfire shooting is one of the fastest-growing shooting sports in the nation, and after attending a Mid-Atlantic Rimfire Series match recently, it’s easy to see why. To learn more about the sport and its universal appeal, we caught up with David Luu, MARS Founder, and National Match Director.

Back in the day, I shot on my highschool ROTC team. Learning the basics back then and shooting for the next 40yrs, 22lr has always been my go-to caliber - plain fun. Yeah, my old-school 40X rifles are still my favorites. My daughter's been shooting for about 10 years, she's 14! She understands finding the zone! Great video, best wishes!

I got a .22mag ruger precision after thinking a .22 was too small to be fun. Well one month later and there's 400 rounds through it and a stack of dead coyotes to prove its big enough. Great gun. Spectacular. It's a little bit heavy for hunting but a half decent sling and it's not a problem.

Nice, I like the idea, I was already doing in the past some 50m .22LR precision shooting, it’s harder than we think. So pushing limits to 100, 200 or even 300m, that must be fun. I always wanted to try PRS style, but there’s no long shooting range near me; so that’s why I like this idea. Congrats!

That's for sure. Cheap and challenging. .22LRs tend to start dropping around 50 yards, so it's certainly a skill to stretch out to 100, 150 and beyond.

After going to a XLR NRL22 match this weekend, I can tell you that the rifles are NOT cheap, most are very expensive!

I would say it depends what rifle you have, I have a vudoo, so it’s not that cheap
