I absolutely repsect the fact that you show it 'how it is' and not cherry picked. Good on you for that! That is why I would have 100% confidence in one of your builds. Thanks!!

Come on Kenny you’re selling yourself short, the Vudoo you built for me has not had one issue!! And since you have had it, it’s gone from the JP APAC to a Foundation and now rests in a Gen 4 JAE. No matter what I throw at the action you put together the thing just SHOOTS!!

Really interesting comparison! It seems like it’s a balancing act between really tight and accurate tolerances on the one hand and usability for all ammo and consistency on the other. It’s cool to see how it’s the application of the rifle that really defines what ‘accuracy’ really means.

Way to go, very logical discussion. PRS the toughest challenge is the 1/4 inch KYL at 50 yards which takes a rifle that can keep the bullets inside a .4 inch group measured center to center to hit the 1/4 inch bar, assuming your point of aim is true. Bench rest requires at 50 yards a rifle that groups consistently center to center of .215 inches to stay inside the 100 point scoring ring.

Have you played with any of the other .22 bench rest actions? I know the centerfire bench rest guys obsess over every little detail including bolt lock up and firing pin consistency. Makes me interested to know if there are action designs that a superior when it comes to accuracy potential when set up by an excellent gunsmith such as yourself. Watching some of Eric Cortina’s conversations on “believe the target” with benchrest shooters has really left me wondering if there are areas us rimfire shooters should be looking at as well.

Great video Kenny, you and I are in the process of a RimX build and all my shooting is going to be benchrest using Lapua/SK ammo. Is this something we can keep in mind with my build? I’m too old to be shooting off barriers and prone. Still couple months from actual build, what are your thoughts. Thanks
@EagleEyeShooting Жыл бұрын
Hey Luther, give us a call to discuss. But in summary, these single shot actions do benefit better accuracy over magazine fed builds.

What scopes do you use for bench test? Is it very different from normal scopes

I primarily use my PRS scopes at 32x for paper. Its just what I got. Most benchrest shooters use fixed power scopes with simple duplex reticles in MOA adjustment.

@EagleEyeShooting Жыл бұрын
Exactly! Im sure ill get some groups from this client. More times then many, you guys are better shooters than I am
@boehilts6056 Жыл бұрын
How are you able to tell which shots are out of the group cause by the ammo and which shots are out of the group caused by the environmental conditions? I see you're not using wind flags. If you're not shooting over wind flags you're just shooting weather reports. 22 rifles are very wind sensitive.
@EagleEyeShooting Жыл бұрын
Unlike other channels, I don't use the wind as an excuse. In this sport very few folks are shooting in a science lab environment .... I do not need to setup cheap K-Mart lawn trinkets to clearly demonstrate the accuracy advantage of the benchrest rifle vs a prs rifle in minor 1mph winds.
