The female Anna helps move the story along and also allow for the development of a character motive. First, she induces the first Predator kill when she tries to escape and Hawkins chases her which leads to his death. Second, she makes us wonder why she isn't a target of the Predator, and Dutch explains it's because she isn't carrying any weapons and that there is "No sport". So this helps us explain the Predator's motives in that it is killing for sport.

Best non-Terminator Arnold movie that I've had a soft spot for since I saw it in the theater at age 12. Arnold vs. The Predator is a badass finale and the reveal of the creature's face in all its beady-eyed, mandible glory is iconic. I had my wife watch this for the first time this past weekend and the mandibles totally freaked her out.

The reason you forget Anna was in the movie by the end is because the movie does a great job sucking you into the final act you forget even Carl Weathers was in this.

Great review on a great film. But I wish you had mentioned the man who played the Predator. KEVIN PETER HALL. At a towering 7'2" he played the Predator in the sequel also. Sadly, died at only 35 years old.

The girl is in the movie so she can give a little backstory to the Predator. She is the one who tells the story of how the Predator seems to hunt when it gets hot and that this encounter wasn't the first time the Predator has hunted on Earth.

Fun intro, Cody. Predator (1987) is one of the greatest action films ever with some of the most quotable dialogue ever. Predator 2(1990) is a good sequel as well.

Good old-fashioned, unadulterated, testosterone-fueled fun. I remember as a kid this movie was a staple during sleepovers. Such a simple plot, but there was just something so captivating about watching man forced to return to a more primitive state in order to combat an apex predatory enemy more technologically advanced than him. Awesome!

One of the greatest and clever things is the heat vision : while the team thinks they are Camouflage because they are in the jungle, the predator can see them regardless because as long as they emit body heat he can see them as clear as a picture no matter how much war paint or Camouflage they have on themselves.

The original Predator is just something different. Kevin Peter Hall absolutely nailed it. Like you said, even the way he moved. He had a certain swagger. A supreme confidence, which made it all the more bad ass when Dutch rises to the challenge and the Predator says "Okay. This dude is game." and takes off all his shit so they can go toe-to-toe. I mean, come on!

I'm sorry how was this video 3 years ago when at the beginning and the end you mention prey coming out next week which is August 5, 2022 was that last part added later on I'm very confused and not that it matters but when you quoted Billy saying I ain't got time to bleed that was actually blain played by Jesse Ventura so just in case you didn't realize that I hope you read this cody please reply was this review actually 3 years ago just with the ending mentioning prey added I really want to know? I tell you what made this one the best is you got that horror/suspense element of not knowing what they’re really up against. They could repeat that for the others. They should have done something in the other installments to make it different like maybe another race that’s even more powerful than the predator. Also fun fact: originally the predator was supposed to be played by Jean Claude van Damme and was supposed to be a ninja like hunter and have martial arts moves and had a totally different look, but van Damme couldn’t do his moves in the heavy suit and was having heat exhaustion so he quit to do bloodsport and they replaced him with Kevin Peter hall and changed the look of it.

Awesome review Cody, your like me enjoy a quality 80's action flick & this is a 80's sci-fi action classic. For me this is why 80's action films rock Predator, Commando, Rambo, Cobra, Die Hard, Lethal Weapon, none of these were this PG-13 shit these films were made for R rated mature audience's not like the PG-13 adolescence can we merchandise the fuck out of this movie shit that is churned out today. Phenomenal action scenes the firefight when Arnie & his men take out that small army holly shit take about adrenaline fuelled manly testosterone action. The Predator is bad ass alien, what I liked is this wasn't just another alien monster rehash but a alien who thinks, who hunts, who sets traps for his prey, who has a code & at the time nothing had been done like this , this movie is definitely in my top 10 favourite films of all time.

When people ask me what my favorite Arnold movie is I always name Terminator, True Lies, Commando, and Total Recall for example, but when people ask me what my favorite alien movie is, Predatorsl is definitely number one. Arnie is not my main focus here, it's definitely Predator.

What a fantastic action/SciFi movie. Just an overall fun plot. Predator 2 was ok but somewhat missed the mark . Although there were a ton of scenes that were clearly made with fan service in mind but the plot wasn't nearly as good as the original

One of the great things about the female character (besides giving info on the predator in her "the one that makes trophies of men" speach) comes specifically in Hawkins death, because she was the only one that presence it and her reaction and the fact that she didn't hide or tried to run away told the team about what they where facing; a foe that has nothing to do with the guerilla she was part of and that f*cked with the rest of the team's conception of what they where against...also her presence gave the audience a little bit of lore when Arnold told she wasn't killed because she wasn't armed. At first she seemed like a superfluous character but if you pay attention, her presence is as important as any other character in the movie.
