The small rubber wedges you use to level a toilet base might be a good fit to shim that tension band

There was a brazilian version of the predicta slightly different from the american version. Basically the position of the knobs and controls. In the 60s both models was sold here in Brazil.

Reverse of how I took it apart. First, wrap the steel band around and screw it down. Then, stretch the decorative band and slip it back in place.

No, the 17" use acrylic. I polish off the white fog on the 21" Tenite screen covers with Novus #2.

@@newtronix Yes, it will and it shrinks more and more. Most sets have a visible gap around the outside.
