Kris is going to be the only one who knows that they formed the dark fountain, they'll be the only one who knows it's not a dream, Susie, and Toriel may never find that Dark World was not a dream. Because why would a dark fountain just suddenly appear there at that time? They fell asleep before the fountain formed so of course they'd think it's just a dream.

Considering how toby plans that chapter 3 will be even more silly. I believe there will be some humour expected for. While we could get a different mechanic of the game as a whole which parallels to it's genocide counterpart. Also we need to wait atleast another year or so for Toby to tease us who the next character is (although toriel and undyne is speculated) Edit: for some reason i predict snowy will play an antagonistic role in chapter 4 (here's a hint, noelle mentions how dragon blazers is similar to deltarune playstyle. And the boss she's fighting in the hospital is none other than silverdrake.) Edit 2: ok I'm basically making another edited. Since i firmly believe jockington will play a huge role in chapter 3 perhaps. Toby already hinted he has a dark world form. And his hat is referenced on the undertale xbox version. Along with him. Maybe catti might also be involved since she already has an oversupportive relationship with her parents and she hates susie.

I remember that one person poked a hole in this theory by saying that Undyne and Toriel have no relation to one another and that there would be no way for them to relate. But there is one common thing that connects them: how they view Asgore. Toriel hates Asgore in Undertale and condones his actions, while Undyne praises Asgore for their decision to execute the children. Now, I know that Deltarune is drastically different from Undertale, but Asgore was chief of police and therefore still has that connection with Undyne. That’s my piece done

Chariel is more of a reference to Toriel's chair from Undertale but also a potential reference to Queen's flying chair. Queen and Toriel have similar relationship with Kris There's even a whole theory of Queen representing the relationships of pratogonists with their mothers.

You missed a very relevant detail: There's an unused death animation that for some reason happens if you use Snowgrave on regular enemies. That animation looks like incineration. Kind of a big deal if the next chapter is going to have someone who was a powerful fire magic user in Undertale.

I never thought about it that way. I think Toriel will be peace ful and wont be aggressive, but if you purposely get hit (while using kris) she'll use more aggressive skills to protect him. If there is an Undyne fight and you get downed by undyne I think Toriel might incinerate her to protect you

Actually, it's not unused. While not directly intended to be seen, it is possible to go back to a room at a certain point and use it on (I think) some of the Mais. And I wouldn't say that it's _incineration._ More like _evisceration,_ like the hail is shredding them from the inside out.

In my opinion, Kris just left and slashed the tires. Maybe he did some other stuff, and obviously we don't know his motivations, but the timing of Toriel calling the police about slashed tires is pretty much a guarantee for me. It's an interesting theory you have about the closed doors thing, but technically the bathroom door is always closed (because of what it looks like in the over world I mean), so even if it would the dark world should still be confined to the house. But it's been a while since I played the end so maybe they intentionally don't show the bathroom door to leave it unknown idk.

The part that "Kris is inviting Undyne" makes a lot of sense! In both chapters, if you interact with Undyne you'll have an option to talk to her about the Dark World but, obviously, she doesn't believe. Maybe he wants her to be there so something would happen, after all she is the monster with the most determination. Or they just want to be taken seriously for some reason Edit: Just replayed the game and when Kris interacts with Undyne we have only two options: "Dark World" or "..." if you select "Dark World" Kris acts as if they were worried about people falling into them, but Undyne doesn't take it seriously. This could be the reason why Kris slashes Toriel's tires and why they open the door at the end of chapter 2. They want Undyne to know about the Dark worlds so she can just warn everyone, after all, who would believe in a teenager when they tell someone about a different world hidden in the library and in school? This could open a lot of possibilities as: Kris can only be at control when their determination reaches the player's determination, and this could be caused by extreme preoccupation or extreme feelings

I feel like there’s gonna definitely be a way to exploit someone ore something in some way to get what you want (that being some type of genocide route) in the coming chapters. At the start of chapter one we are told our choices don’t matter in this world, but with the snowgrave route, it’s proven that our choices DO matter. So I think the main thing throughout the next chapters will be about you (the player) trying to find a way to exploit people and kill everything and the consequences of your actions. I think that depending on weather or not you try to rise above the laws of the game will determine How much impact Gaster will have. If you chose to go a pacifist route the dynamic is Kris resisting YOU, but if you go the snowgrave route it’s you resisting kris’ resistance. And I think the “genocide” route your forcing would upset whoever we were talking to while creating a vessel at the start of chapter one. So I think that the endgame, in chapter 7 will be a fight against whatever kris is doing while he rips out your soul and has his knife in hand. But a genocide route will involve a fight against an upset gaster who told you that you couldn’t rise above the laws of the game, yet you still do. Because I’m undertale, to get the FULL story, you have to go out of your way to kill everything and everyone. The story that flowey tells you in new home, the dialogue during the sans fight, and your interaction with chara at the end gives insight on lore that you wouldn’t find if you didn’t do the genocide route. So I think the snowgrave route will go in the same direction that might give us more insight on some lf the things like gaster.

6:27 Actually I have reason to believe that only the livingroom will be converted. When Susie and Kris fall asleep, the game makes it visually obvious that the kitchen and living room have separate lighting, specifically darkening the living room. I think that's a bit of foreshadowing that only the living room will become dark. This also connects to an overarching theory of mine, with a light source having to take part in casting the Darkness for a dark world, literally becoming the source of the fountain. The abandoned classroom is the only room in Hometown that has a visible light bulb, after all, and both the laptop in the Library and the TV are light sources, (which btw, it's notable that Queen is a computer, and the likely antagonist of Ch3, Mike, is a TV).

This may have been mentioned in your comments already, but at the end of Ch 1, Undyne says some very interesting things. When you initially talk to her, she says she wishes something big would happen in town. She also tells you look out for someone matching Susie's description, as there have been reports or someone like that causing mischief. I think Undyne will be a antagonist in Ch 3, and will try to arrest Susie. She might even think Susie is the one who slashed the tires. Anyways, I think we will stick up for Susie, fight Undyne and then Undyne will eventually be on our side, like Susie in Ch 1 and Berdly in Ch 2. I also think she will be involved in some way with the secret boss by turning our heart green.

I have a small theory that seam has items that foreshadow the themes of each new area. On the wall behind him, there is a variety of items. On the right looks like a filing cabinet, then left of that an object similar to a webcam. If we see those as the school storage room, then the library computer lab, they are both in line and thematicly relevant. Plus, because of the layout of the other items, your house would also fit. If it is a cooking show theme or something, it lines up with the mini stove seam has. Even if the position is not a factor to consider, the other items could easily be dark world themes. I think undyne will come to the dark world on snowgrave route, and on a normal route it’ll be napstablook. A kid just died or went comatose, and it’s likely that he’s been found by the time chapter 2 ends. They’d be much more concerned about what happened in that case, and Undyne would go in case of a violent encounter.

Despite Ralsei, Susie, and perhaps Kris telling her no this is not asriel, asriel sux, Toriel is still going to confuse Ralsei with him. In the end, if they say goodbye, I think Toriel would say "Goodbye Asriel- I mean, Ralsei, haha." I feel like Deltarune is also hinting at more of Kris's classmates joining up in the dark world, either as teammates or bosses. Both Catti and Jockington (presumably also Snowy and Monster Kid) have a room in Queens mansion. It’d be really fun to see their Dark World appearances/costumes, such as Catti using her snake friend as a weapon and MK potentially having “Magic” arms instead of having none at all. The last one could potentially be an interesting plot dynamic, with MK not wanting to seal off the Fountain due to fearing he’ll lose his new appendages and then appearing as a boss encounter (similarly to Berdly) where he uses different arms to attack the player, such as sprouting tentacles and attending to grab your SOUL or creating large hammers to smash it. Idk, it’d be cool.

Undertale was like that and this game has gone out of its way to tell us that we are not playing Undertale. *Our* choices don't matter. My guess is that, as the heroes of prophecy, we aren't able to stray from that path. Whatever we do we end up sealing the fountains. The reason why we needed Noelle for the snowgrave route is because she isn't part of that prophecy. She can act how she chooses and *her* choices matter. Deltarune may have a darker path but it will require manipulation of those outside of the prophecy. Urging people to make the wrong choices since we aren't allowed to act outside of our roles.

Considering chapter 2's actual development took less than 1 and a half years (from reading the September 2020 status update, development of chapter 2 mostly started in Spring 2020), I think about 4 years waiting for chapters 3-5 is more likely.

Toby commented that the reason why chapter 2 took so long was because he kept switching engines, had to remake parts of chapter 1, and he has chronic wrist pain. But the good news is that he has a proper team to help him now, and he found an easier and more effective way to program cutscenes. Basically, it will speed up the process in the long run.

My belief as to why kris opens the door for seemingly no reason is to expand the dark world. Each dark world is one room and as you said a house can be considered to be one big room, but a whole town is something else. Kris wants to spread the dark world across the whole town, which explains the conversation they had with susie about doing just that. The only way to do this however is to get rid of the walls or to leave an opening to make the "room" that the dark world with take shape as even bigger and to turn the whole town into one huge dark world, one that could easily last for 3 or more real world days (chapters).

Personally, I think that the smile on the tv could be pointing towards flowey. This is because of the tv with static on it in the final boss fight against flowey and his infamous smile.

I have mixed feeling towards that theory, first of all the dark world created will be determined by objects in the same room as the fountain, BUT, in Asgores flower shop, you can see replicas of basically all human souls as flowers except determination and a Flowey like flower. Meaning I think Asgore will be in maybe chapter 4 or 5+ because we could open a portal in his shop by having like a "stayover for the weekend" type deal then on Monday coming back with Susie. I feel like an antagonist of the chapter with him would definitely be a Darkworld Flowey

But what if Deltarune Undyne has no determination whatsoever? She doesn't really have much of a specific goal... Just protect the town, which there usually isn't anything to protect it from... Undyne probably thinks a wild animal is just wandering around, and once she enters the dark world she will probably be confused excited and completely forget that she's in a strange alternate universe that appeared in someone's house.

Every monster, even in Undertale have a bit of determination, but monsters don't know magic in Deltarune, and that's probably why Berdly doesn't turn into dust, so if there is no magic, is very probably they have physical body, that means can hold more determination than in Undertale, so maybe she has even more determination

One of my guesses or predictions is the next secret boss being the dark world equivalent of alphys. Remember each characters from undertale has a sort of parallel version of sorts in the dark world ie queen and king obviously being a parallel to asgore and toriel, ralsei being well asriel, etc etc. the secret boss this time around for chapter 2 is spamton who is the dark world equivalent of mettaton. My prediction for one of the next chapters secret boss is being the dark world equivalent of alphys. The thing that makes me believe this is because the fact that we never got an alphys fight on pacifist, neuatral, or genocide route heck she doesnt seem to bother us entirely when we do genocide, and chapter 2 has shown us spamton neo aka the possible version of what a mettaton neo fight couldve been so that leaves the possibility of one of the next chapters secret boss being a parallel or darkworld version of alphys of sorts because alphys never had a fight in the original undertale. Tbh this is just my random thought i had about the next few chapters who knows i could be completely wrong lol

Well, I get how Spamtom NEO is like a parallel to Mettaton and I'm all up for an Alphys boss, but the thing is, I don't think every darkworld boss is a parallel to past characters in Undertale, since the Queen was more than anything a parallel to *Noelle's* mother, Ch 2 revolved around that theme seeing as Noelle doesn't seem to have a good relationship with her mom, we're shown that the queen is commanding Noelle but the deer ends up standing up to the queen and telling her she doesn't like being controlled, and that might just be the same issue going on in the light world. We might still get an Alphys-parallel boss but I don't think it would be because of the reason you mentioned

I have a personal theory/headcanon on the tv, as we know, each darkner is directly paired with an object, and darkners can "see" the lightners even without fountains existing, as queen, a computer, knows about noelle's searches and once the internet goes down, she wants to help her by expanding the dark world, what I want to say is, this isn't some random tv, it's the living room tv, it has been sitting here for probably years and kris and asriel likely played games on that tv, so I think the chapter 3 ruler would be very attached to kris and act like a parent, causing immediate conflict with toriel (also they might have saw toriel and asgore's divorce and might have unwanted opinions on that but that's way less likely)

Well one thing about the secret bosses is that some have theorized that it's going in reverse Genocide route order. Sans and Jevil having lots of connections and Metaton Neo and Spamton Neo (don't think I need to explain that), so yeah, the next major fight would have been Undyne the Undying. So there's some weight there, but obviously we can't continue this pattern forever if there's 7 chapters. Another thing we need to consider is that there may not be that much change in formula this early on. Remember Chapter 2, 3, and 4 were suppose to be released together; but because of Covid and good will, Toby released Chapter 2 for free and Chapters 3-5 will be bundled together. That being said, logically Chapter 2, 3, and 4 would be meant to be more cohesive thematically. Toby's not going to go back and majorly rework Chapters 3 and 4 just to break the standard that Chapter 2 set up (or maybe he will, man's mad as a hatter). He's probably put at least 10-18 months into Chapters 3 and 4 at this point (there's no way he spent 3 years on JUST chapter 2; otherwise it'll be 2036 before Chapter 7 would be done) so I don't think we'll see a major shift in narrative and tone till Chapter 4 and especially in Chapter 5. Or again, as a fan, I'm just gonna be 100% wrong; and I'm ok with that.

@@churro1201 Did they though? There is the mystery about what happened to Dess. Rudy being in the hospital is a potential set up for trauma that could easily play into the themes of Helplessness, Lack of control etc. that surround both Noelle and the game at large. Noelle being likened to an "Angel" on both routes, hinting at her potentially being connected to the "Angels Heaven" in some way. Theres also the fact that at least on Snowgrave, she is our murder doll at worst and heavily traumatized at best, depending on where her mind goes after the Hospital scene. Sure she got more confident on Regular Route, but her character development isnt as heavy as that she couldnt fall back (or even fall into adjacent issues) if things started to go worse for her, which there is a lot of potential set up for. On Snowgrave any amount of "confidence" she gained is heavily linked with a fear of lacking control (Hospital Scene) and/or following our commands (DW) which gives her even *more* potential set up for things going worse. Tldr.: Both routes give more than enough set up for Noelle to still be plot-important in the future. Whether she will appear prominently in Ch3 is a different question, but i dont think her arc is as finished as it looks, and with the game, *especially* on Snowgrave where shes in a much worse mental state, actively invoking the "Angel" thing with her... Yeah, i think shes going to be important on at least one of the routes, if not both.

@@Miropup What I mean by "finished" is ðat she is as finished as Lancer and Berdly. She will come back later but I doubt anyþing super major. Not as important as Susie and definitely never Kris or Ralsei. Plus, ðe Mystery of Rudy, Dess, and ðe Angel all are characters ðat are not Noelle. I could see her staying unplayable but still getting backstory from Characters like ðe ones you mentioned in ðere. Toriel, Asgore, Rudy, Catti, and ðe Mayor are all very likely dark world canidates ðat can give details on Noelle. But I feel ðat Noelle will not be Super Relevant in ðe future chapters. Plus seeing where ðe Chapter 3 Fountain might be. It is practically impossible for Noelle to show up in Chapter 3's dark world, unless if Toby pulls a bullshit dream sequence which I highly doubt he would do because of 1. I guarrentee he hates Dream Endings as much as we do. 2. Kris, one of ðe 3 heroes opening up a Dark Fountain has some real interesting setup potential wiþ Ralsei. And ðe light world Characters þeorized to show up have not had much interaction in Deltarune or Undertale. So far, I am banking on Noelle staying unplayable, and becoming a Lancer role character.

And we're also assuming Noelle would even boðer going to Kris' house. Edit: Ðe Police showed up to Kris' house, Noelle would not be willing to walk in a pure black room, after ðe Police showed up, unless if Berdly gave her ðe push to do it, and on ðe Genocide route Berdly's dead.

I don't think Toby would do the same thing twice. I honestly think Undyne will made to confront Kris, Susie and Toriel (and her newly befriended fluffy boi that looks like her other kid.) Undyne, thinking this is just a crazy dream, still not aware of the danger she's in, will be struck down by Toriel, protecting her children, dream or not. It would be pretty crazy to see this happen tho, and would remove Undyne from the game for the foreseeable future. So I don't think this will happen tbh.

I think the door is opened because every dark world so far has *been inside a closed room.* So possibly either only the place closely outside or the whole town will become a dark world. This would be a great way to open up the world after the first two chapters.
