I totally agree with you on Memphis. They set NBA records this year for number of different starting lineups (51), lost a record number of games lost to injury (578) and set a record for most players on a roster in a season (31). Ja played 9 games (the Grizz were 6-3 in those) after a 25-game suspension (so another 25 games lost by a star...suspension vs injury here) and then was injured for the rest of the year. Adams made a couple of pre-season games and then out for season ending surgery (then subsequently traded to the Rockets). Even people that recognize how decimated the Grizz roster was from injuries this year usually don't really grasp what it looked like. It was absolute bedlam. I watched every game this year...and even watching every game I couldn't hardly keep up with who in the world these guys were. The fact they managed to win 27 games is pretty amazing.

So you think the Grizzlies, Warriors, Rockets and Kings all return to the playoffs next year... what 4 teams in the current west top 8 miss out then? Maybe Lakers if Bron walks and they tear it down. MAYBE Suns if you think this first round exit puts them in crisis mode (doubt it - they had a 55-win pace since boxing day). MAYBE Clippers get eviscerated by injuries (doubt it - they're good enough even if one of their big 3 misses the whole season). And MAYBE one other team gets cooked by injuries like this years Grizz? It just doesnt add up imo. And then of course its hard to build a consummate picture for two years in the future, but you put the Jazz and Spurs also in the top 8 for 2026, so yet another two teams have to be displaced? Will 31 year old Jokic suck that bad? Lmao. I think itd be more accurate if the premise of the video was reaching the play-in, because the modern west is just far too loaded for all these outcomes to fit together
