Excellent series! I didn’t think I would watch all four seasons but I got very wrapped up in the outcome. (The Lionheart Suite turn was really tense!) I have finally gotten to play my new copy of Obsession with my son in town for the holidays. I (York) won our first game, but he (Ponsonby) came back with a huge win in game two. We have agreed to a rubber match to include the Upstairs/Downstairs expansion before he heads back home. These videos really helped our first plays go smoothly...thank you so much for taking the time to film/edit/post. And thanks for such a delightful game!!

Dan, wonderful playthrough. Very informative and entertaining. It really whetted my appetite for the game. There may be room for you in the KZbin game explanation market. You definitely have a talent for it.

That was really fun. Thanks for all the effort. And that ending was really exciting, too bad for Howards, they finished strong, but no luck!

Exciting videos (all four seasons) with breathtaking twists! I can't wait to play Obsession with all the additional staff.

Thank you. I can't wait for you to play with the new staff, too! So frustrating to miss my fulfillment date (for obvious reasons). I was hoping players would be playing right now.

Also, at 43:13, why not use your Head Housemaid to screen the prestige guest? Maybe you forgot about her because she was hiding under the Cook!
@kayentagamesdanhallagan8563 жыл бұрын
Yep, that would have been smart! The cook TOTALLY hides her. :)

From what I can make out, it seems you shorted both sides on Improvement Tile VP. It looks as though Howard has 51 and York has 69. Great playthrough!!

Sorry, Dan. I inadvertently attached my comment to the wrong video. So here in video 4, at 36:16, refreshing the market with your useful man in search of a monument seems perfectly okay. But doing so to keep Family Howard away from the Prestige Tiles in the market? Um, doesn't that violate your rule (Evil York or not) about refreshing the market to punitively hurt an opponent? :)
@kayentagamesdanhallagan8563 жыл бұрын
Not really in this case. The purpose of the refresh is to find the last monument. An ancillary benefit is that tiles desirable to Howard will be removed. As long as you are refreshing to find some tile for your benefit, you're good. I probably overstated the impact on Howard, but the key refresh to avoid would be if I had zero or very few pounds and refreshed a market to deny an opponent a play.

Thanks Dan - really interesting and informative videos. Did you miss York's 1VP per service tile on final scoring?
@kayentagamesdanhallagan8564 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I am glad you enjoyed it. I think I got those 5 points-9 for Monuments + 6 for the Tableau Bonus + 6 for the Service Group + 5 for the Service tiles = 26 + 12 for the Milestones = 38.

Not stealing 1 rep on the penultimate turn and forgetting to steal rep on the turn previous with gossip would have made the difference to the tie. York still would have had their play because they traded for 100 pounds early.

Filming and thinking is tough! :)

Dan Hallagan Even without the camera, it’d still be tough to remember to steal rep! And, even if done, it would have just made a tie. The tiebreaker would have gone to York, so you’d have to have gone back to buying something like the Dining Hall and using the tile flipping power on that to win the courtship for the result to have changed. Aren’t you the one who said, in an earlier turn, that a close loss or a blowout are no different? :D In the end, the gameplay shows the power or having the flexibility that occupying max reputation and good income generation in the last turns affords. As well as the power of those later turns to swing the VP and recover ones position.
