Hi Gemma. I love how excited you are!!! With regards to the breast feeding: with my first child I breast fed but gave him a bottle at night. However I felt that he preferred the bottle and then didn’t really want to breast feed after that. With my daughter I breast fed exclusively for the first three months and it went much more smoothly because that was all she knew. After three months my milk started to dry up a bit so I switched to bottles and it was no problem at all because it’s less work for them to get milk from a bottle! This is just my own experience and all babies are different but I think it’s easier to start with if you just stick with one thing. Also, no one told me how sore your nipples get. Mine were bleeding the first week of breast feeding. You can avoid this with a nipple protector. I would highly recommend it just until your nipples harden up a bit. Then it becomes much easier. All the best with it. ❤️😊🤞xxxxx

Yes that's exactly what I found definitely not a good idea to introduce bottles too early and with the soreness I never suffered with that I guess it differs from one person to the next xx

Aww loved this! Just half way through now. Something I really noticed which is quite cute. The patterns in my baby girls kicks, then transferred to when she was born. She would always kick like crazy around 9-11pm at night. When she was born, that time was her most lively time too! 💕

Love this update video 🥰 thank you for sharing it with us Gemma! When you were saying you can’t feel baby boy as much during the day, it’s because when you’re awake, up and moving around, that sensation will allow him to fall asleep. And then when you’re more settled and resting, he’ll be awake 🥰♥️

With regards to breast and bottle feeding, please prepare yourself for the overwhelming hormones that come along with it! I did all of the research, exclusively BF semi-successfully for the first week then gave my baby girl a bottle of expressed milk one morning just so Dad could feed her which she loved, and she didn’t want to latch again. It caused two days of tears on my end and she hasn’t latched since. We’re now on day 11 and baby girl is combi-fed formula and expressed milk. Not what I “planned”. Be kind to yourself and don’t feel that you need to explain your decisions, as long as you and your husband are happy and baby is fed, that’s all that matters ♥️

Gemma you look great! 👌😊. Buy a "bump band" for extra support for your tummy to. The hip and back pain isn't just because you are growing a baby, it is because your joints are getting supple, especially your hip joints, so you can push the baby out. In the day you are moving around.. So the baby is "being rocked"... Evenings and nights when you are still the baby is active because you are still. Wait until the baby punches your kidneys or liver, or pushes up on your stomach sack or down on your bladder, or sits on your sciatic nerve.. Then it's not nice/painful😭. I wanted a water birth.. But during labor I got it and it felt terrible, so I got out. Stretch marks are more likely to come in the last 4weeks when your baby is just putting on weight and your tummy gets huge quick.

Hi hunny, I’m a breast feeding support worker and a nurse and totally support ur choices with breastfeeding. I would just say that the breastfeeding can be tricky to maintain if u introduce bottles to early because the baby can get confused. If u can hold off bottle feedings until about 3mths he should be pretty well established and easy peasy. I also did exactly that with one of mine, and exclusively breast fed the other and they r both perfectly happy and hopeless teens now! Ur doing amazing and we ❤️ u xx

Aww Gemma. You were so excited and blossoming in this Vlog it was lovely to see. You and Jamie are both going to be great parents to your Little One. Little tips when you are in hospital and when you come out and you starting to mixing with other New mums around you , please remember that all children develop at different times and e.g all because someone else baby is rolling over don’t feel pressured that that’s what your child should be doing also. Try not to hurry the development along too quickly . Just take one day at a time and enjoy the time in the 1st year especially, as it goes by sooo quickly. All the best of luck with everything . 🥰
@kerryduck25992 жыл бұрын
I totally agree, Gemma looks remote though so driving to a mum and the dad's group. Play dates Please don't put baby in nursery early, I don't think Gemma will with working from home. I just think you need to see everything especially in thay 1st year. It goes so fast. I know people have to work before I get hate comments. I just feel you need that time to adjust to being a new mum, house to keep and work. It's damn hard work. Plus you get the guilt especially when the baby say rolls over for the 1st time and it's at nursery. It's so normal to be anxious and anybody out there who is stressed please chat to someone believe me whatever it is another mum will have either felt it, or know someone who will. I am happy for anyone to talk through anything.

I just wanted to leave a positive comment, as sometimes people are quick to share their negative experiences surrounding birth and feeding and I know how off putting that can be for a new mum. I breastfed my first son for 2 years and 2 months and I’m currently breastfeeding my second son, we are 1 year in. Both journeys were completely different to begin with. My first was born prematurely and didn’t understand how to latch on to my nipple, i exclusively pumped my milk for the first 5 weeks of his life and then a few days before his due date he latched successfully for the first time. I saw a comment suggesting about not pumping for the first 8 weeks if you want them to understand breastfeeding. But I just wanted to say every baby is different and my child using a bottle of my milk for the first 5 weeks didn’t hinder his ability to learn to latch on the nipple. My second child was a much easier breastfeeding journey and latched onto me immediately after birth. I also thought it was really important to point out that if you experience any pain whatsoever then speak to your midwife immediately. Lots of mothers have bad breastfeeding journeys because babies may be missed for tongue tie or mothers are just simply not given enough support or encouragement surround breastfeeding. Pain shouldn’t occur when breastfeeding. Likewise, If you have any problems you can ask your midwife or health visitor for the number for your local breastfeeding specialists, they are super helpful and will come out to see you to give you any help/support you may need. I hope you have an amazing breastfeeding journey and I wish you all the good luck for your birth. I had a water birth with my second, no pain relief and it’s the most in control, empowering, powerful experience I’ve ever had. So worth it! Hope you too get to experience that. Thank you for sharing your journey with us all. It’s so special to see you glowing and your happiness shine through🤍

You can harvest colostrum that’s leaking. It’s great for if you do decide to breast feed or if your bottle feeding. Plus if it’s coming out anyway you might aswell collect it and freeze it for when baby is here. Look it up, there’s so many good reasons to do it. Like if your baby has a cold you can give him some or if your nipples hurt so much and you want a break then you have some colostrum etc

Hi lovely, just a tip from a mummy of 3. I had my first baby girl who is now 7, when I was 19 and I breastfed her and introduced a bottle around week 8 and it was a dream, she fed well from both and it didn't affect her. My second child wasn't as efficient at breastfeeding so I introduced a bottle around 5 or 6 weeks but it meant he began to prefer it as it was easier for him. My 3rd baby who is now 2 almost 3 and has only just stopped breastfeeding (my choice, he would still be going haha!) But I never introduced a bottle as I was scared of what happened with my second baby, and honestly I loved every moment of it but I felt very tied and even up until recently as he still wakes in the night 3 or 4 times and he's almost 3. But yeah. Just wanted to give my advice to say, do it when you and baby feel ready and it'll work out perfectly that's what I found anyway xxxx

It’s also very important to be aware of your posture during pregnancy which can be affected and cause back pain. Try to stand tall but do speak to your midwife as they can advise about good posture during pregnancy as its also important when sitting and lying . Take care from mummy of 3❤️

Hi Gemma, My daughter had a water birth with her first, and it was amazing. With her second, she didn't have time, and she said the water birth was better, more comfortable. Are you having your mother with you and Jamie during your labour? I was with my daughter for both her children, and it was magical. You are looking so good during pregnancy, you look really health. If you keep getting backache talk to midwife about a pregnancy belt, they support your belly, and I found really help. Take care x

For more back support I recommend using a pregnancy belt. It supports your abdoman which lifts weight off of your back as well and also using a heating pad while you lie down with your legs supported on pillows. Cramping in your legs/feet usually means you're lacking potassium. You can eat bananas. I had a friend who craved eating dirt. I'd heard of that, but never personally knew someone that actually did, so that was quite shocking. I've also heard of cravings of eating chalk. I used cocoa butter on my breasts and belly and never had stretch marks. Leakage is normal at 3rd trimester. I know it's weird and unpleasant, but think of it as your body preparing for the next level and you want everything working as it should to nurse that lil guy!
@kerryduck25992 жыл бұрын
Yes heat pads are great, I suggest the soft ones not the pladtic type with a cover. The soft ones come with a cover but so soft. Plastic goes brittle it's also good after pregnancy with backache or stomach ache etc maybe another baby lol.

Hi Gemma, you are glowing at the moment. I love how excited you are about meeting your baby. I breast fed both my boys.With the first one I also bottle fed so that I could pump milk and still go out with my friends if I wanted to. He refused to breast feed at the age of 6 months so I had to put him on bottles and this was pretty instant, not good for me, ow! Lol. The second one I mostly only breast fed but he was reluctant to give up. I fed him until the age of around 12 monrhs. Babies have to work hard when they breast feed but the bottle is easier for them. I enjoyed feeding my babies, it helps with the bond. You need to have a good midwife for support if there are any initial problems.

The reason why most breastfed babies don’t have a bottle from birth, is because they can get a bottle preference pretty quickly and it can risk your breastfeeding journey hugely. The recommendation is that you wait until baby is 6 weeks old before you introduce a bottle if you’re breastfeeding, because your milk supply is established by then and baby is into the swing of things with the breast. There are however many many families who combi-feed from birth and do it successfully without any major difficulties. It’s just something to be aware of if you want to Breastfeeding for a particular amount of time and your heart is set on it.❤️

Hi Gemma, I have not had a baby for a long time but I have friends who have had recent babies. The midwife's really push you to breast feed I found they tried to frighten me into feeding. My first baby was not growing and turned out to be emergency ceserean he weighed 3lb 3oz. I did not want to breast feed and because he was only taking minimal amounts and I had no milk for him. The reason why I am telling you this is because even though he came home after a month in special care they exspected him to drop some weight he had only been having the bottle a few days before that it was tube thing. He never lost anything and was drinking really well. The bottle also gives Jamie that time of feeding which I know you can express but I not of felt comfortable going out and getting my breasts out. I had more control because as you will find out baby's don't just go a certain time before feeds, when baby get's hungry they let you know. My 2nd bany well all I can say the size of her makes people go weak at the knees lol she was a whopping 12lb 10oz. She was starving from the get go. I was in overnight just because she had pooed and looked a little jaunduce. All 3 of mine bottle fed and are all grown up and were healthy. I remember one nurse telling me that breast fed babies are very clever and bottle babies are not(do not believe it Gemma) my children are all clever and did amazing in exams. I am a super proud mum and they are all respectful and well mannered. My daughter has got awards for helping people at school with reading, maths, a girl who was getting abused by her dad. When she was oroind 11 and my youngest was 5 a lady had a fall. They took her home and Samuel phoned her son and Abbey was cleaning her up and made the lady a sweet tea. The lady's son phoned Sam's school a few day's later and the local police lady put them forward for a award. I know this is super long but I just wanted to put your mind at rest. Take care x Oh ps. I noticed the (GLS) instead of GLM lol.

Just beautiful takes me back so much ! I had Harrison at 29 weeks ! Premature so my body went into shock so was I !! . I would say breast feeding is soo pressurised I couldn’t get Harrison to latch on because he was born not only 9 weeks early but with a cleft palette lip soo I expressed a little bit nights I didn’t crying my body wasn’t giving enough so stressful I was soo sore awful and some nice nurses understood others were like you must do it it’s liquid gold ! Let me just say he had done little drops of liquid gold but thank goodness for formula milk, it was on prescription due to being so tiny o think it helped a lot with so many vitamins in he put on the weight needed i got some sleep and dad was able to help out , with the feeding so totally do what you can if you can but if they get bottle fed wether it’s Natural or not long as you all happy and baby that’s all that matters this old fashioned pressure got to stop go with the flow 💜💜💜💜

Super agree, I had hoped the nurses were more flexiable now but by the sound of it nothing has changed. They tell you anything to guilt you into doing it. I do think it's wrong do what you want Gemma don't let the midwife's pressure if you can't get Jamie or your mum to do it for you. It's suprising how my mum felt having grandchildren, she had them nurses sorted mainly with Abbey being such a big baby 12lb 10oz and bad blood loss. I remember a nurse at night saying get some sleep and I will take baby for you. (She did not force me) it was my choice and she had others. She woke me up just after a hour saying your going to have her back she is starving, she did settle but I found I was feeding, changing nappy she only slept like a hour 2 at a push sleep. I put her on the hungry baby cow & gate, they use the C&G in hospital but I did try SMA but that was making her a liitle sick. I only get 1 tin of that and never used it again. The hospital told me to use Cow & Gate for my 1st because that's what he was getting in special care. Quite a few people say SMA has a funny smell to it and especially when sick.
