My mum had a miscarriage once and it really took a toll on her emotionally . Once at a party an "aunty" had the nerve to ask my mum why she is stuck with an only child and how that is affecting me. I really got pissed and angry at her for saying that to my mum bc she doesn't know what she and my dad had to go through. I yelled at her and told her mind her own business and stop indirectly insulting mum like that. Luckily there was another aunty who also had an only child and she backed me up. To this day that "auntie" gives me a cold stare but I don't give a shit lol.

Preach! My friend is 28 going to be 29 and she isn’t seeing anyone and her family keeps putting pressure on her to get married. She is independent and supports herself, but instead of them being proud of that they keep focusing on marriage. Marriage cannot be rushed, this is their life long partner.... On another note, kids aren’t for everyone. They are a blessing but not everyone needs or wants to have kids. You focus on you and your marriage! You are both grown adults. Keep traveling and living your life! 💗

Married since 10 years & had 3 miscarriages in 4 years....went into depression. I lost all enthusiasm of becoming a mother...Took fertility treatment for almost 6 years.... I have a very loving and caring husband. People judged me...some asked me whether I did abortions purposely to save my figure and career...or if something was wrong with my marraige or I was plain lazy to visit doctors...bla blah bla...after 3 failed Ivf procedures in 2 years I had given up all hopes....But the medicines did their job & I conceived last year. We had a healthy baby boy in Nov 2016. Just last week we celebrated his first birthday...And yes all those judgmental people weren't invited to the birthday party...hehehe.🎂🎉 Seriously Having a baby is a personal choice...Dont ever bother whatever people say...do what you want. 💕💕

You're so bang on about the baby thing. I m 31. Married for 7 years. I m sick and tired of people's questions about when I'm going to have a baby🤦. Also not to forget how they easily blame the woman for not conceiving and never the man.

I'm just a teenager but I can somehow relate to this topic a lot. This is because my mother got married at a very young age(like when she was 14) and my dad was 21.My dad is a Merchant Navy and he mostly stays out of country.I was born after 5 years of their marriage. In those 5 years my mumma heard the worst of things from the closest to strangest persons possible. Some called her infertile, fruitless and what not.Once she was not allowed to attend a baby shower because they thought her appearance was not good for the baby.Omg!I still can't believe what I'm writing.I just want to knock their bloody faces now.How can these people be so dumb to understand that if her man is not in town then how the hell can she have a baby?!Like really😂?Again there could've been some hormonal problems, anything. And Jovita di just think that they were expecting a baby from a 14 year old child!!.Now I'm 14 and my mom is 33.We almost look like sisters.God my mother is hella well maintained and I'm a fatass that's why😂😂. Sorry for such a long comment but just thought of sharing this with you!Love ya❤

You know what the funny thing is.. when a girl is in her teens she’s most likely not allowed to have a boyfriend, but when she’s finally an adult, people expect her to get married within a few years🤨 Especially my grandparents keeps asking me when I’m getting married. Thank god my parents aren’t that old fashioned. #indianculture

You have a point, but I don't feel like she is insulting anyone. She is just saying how things are, besides, she hasn't mentioned which category of teens is it.. In late teens, obviously many people are matured but there are certain rules to be followed. I am in my mid-twenties now and I had a very strict upbringing and I totally agree on the fact about focussing on studies etc. But the way there is a sudden pressure of getting married etc is not right. I am seeing many young girls facing such problems and thats sad.

Thanks for your thoughts on pregnancy! My husband and I tried for 10 years to have kids and every time someone brought it up I wanted to run away and cry but had to pretend it was no big deal!! I've been married for 17years. We were asked constantly or comments were thrown around about why we didn't have a baby. After a years of being polite I finally had to just tell them I can't carry a baby to term. I've miscarried and had all kinds of invasive painful tests run on me, every time you ask me I want to cry and punch you in the throat. They stopped asking me. One cousin even offered to be a surrogate. Sweet but, didn't feel right.

You are so right about not respecting boundaries and the emotional abuse prevalent in our society. I am reading books on these topics currently especially on emotional abuse done by parents. And there is no one to talk to about these things since we tend to hallow a lot of things. I am very glad to find your video. But seriously topics like emotional abuse, social abuse, boundaries should receive the attention hugely due to them.

Hi from China. I am constantly asked why I am still single, and even my friends can't stop asking me to get married. Some of the people I met even went to great length to feel sorry for me. It is really beyond me why they are so obsessed with other people's private issues. And I also can't tell them to mind their business directly. What a pain in the xss.

So glad to hear you speak freely on such topics. I know the culture in the middle eastern countries and India is so different. I'm of East Indian descent and grew up in Trinidad, so grateful that most Indian families no longer force their daughters into arranged marriages or bug them about having kids. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to grow up without such pressures. My husband is black and we've been married for over 23 years. My family embraces him. Some had their issues but I don't care. We have 3 gorgeous kids and I wouldn't change it. It's easier for us to say "stand up for yourself" than it is for the person going thru it to actually do that. Some people refuse to change their mentality and instead are so tunneled visioned. It's great to see the amount of middle eastern and Indian women that are on KZbin. I just wish that all women had the freedom to choose who and what they want in life rather than it being forced up on them.

I loved hearing your thoughts on this topic! I have experienced so much criticism from friends and family, even strangers, for not wanting to have children. Even when I was in high school and I mentioned at dinner one night that I didn't want kids, my dad became so upset with me and told me "it's your duty on this earth". It's so upsetting to have so many people tell me I'm wrong and become upset with me because of a choice I want to make for myself. Let me be!

I was so glad you touched on this subject. After a few months of getting married, the unwanted questions of when I'm having a baby started flooding in. Also, I'm glad that you labeled it as emotional abuse because it's hard being a women when you have massive expectations put on you. There are people out there that are just not aware of how rude they are but I believe it's best to stay true to yourself and remind such people that it has nothing to do with them. I am optimistic that this generation will be more forward thinking and just let a woman do what she wants. Also, I don't usually comment on videos but I absolutely love your content and humbleness and I wish you were my big sister! Much love and get well soon ❤️

I absolutely love your chat, and I love the way you talked about couples getting married and having children! My son is 4 years old and very often, I’ve heard since he was probably a few years old, “when are you having the next one?” I have to say that it’s extremely annoying, and for people who aren’t my parents or immediate family, why put pressure on the couple?! I personally did not want any more children until now, and I felt that when I went back to work, my son was 18 months old, and it wasn’t the right time! I’ve got to say, when you and your husband are ready, take your time, enjoy each other because once a child is in the picture, your relationship and lives will be about that child! Also, I love your makeup look today!

I can totally relate to what you’re saying. I’ll be married for 3yrs in January and I’m absolutely fed up of being asked “when are you having kids?”, or told how it’ll be very difficult to conceive because I didn’t have kids at the “right time”. It is so annoying that people just ‘tell’ me to have kids like an order saying it’s enough now. From in-laws, relatives, friends who have kids to complete strangers. Why don’t people understand that it’s the couple who decides whether/when to have kids?

I can so much relate to the pregnancy questions. I have been married for less than a year and still I am constantly asked the same question over and over again. If you are one who doesn't want kids, oh boy, the judgemental looks that you'll get! People will start to give you every piece of advice that they can. I'm sick and tired already and I don't know how I will handle the pressure in long run. I know many of the women will connect to this topic.

In our societies we've let everyone have an opinion about our lives, and it's crazy that no matter how successful a woman is, she's not happy or "enough" if she's not married. It doesn't matter if she's achieved many of her dreams, it's just not enough. The constant pressure over our bodies and lives must end already. It's my life!

Amen!! I've been married for more than 5 years and the amount of pressure i recieve from both sides of the family is frustrating! And mentally exhausting to a point where i dont even want to hang out with them! MY LIFE MY DECISIONS- SIMPLE AS THAT!

This particular topic really hits home for me. I've been married for a few years now and we decided to hold off on having kids as I was doing my residency and I just wasn't mentally at that place in my life. However it was very hard to avoid those questions, especially with trips to India - people would constantly stare at my stomach trying to figure out if I was in fact pregnant and a few women even thought I might be infertile! It was so rude and very hurtful. I think it is definitely very rude because some women cannot conceive and it's such an emotional ordeal on its own without having everyone poking and proding into your personal life. I would never ask any of my close friends when or if they want to have kids or get married. I mean as long as they are happy why does it matter anyways? I think a few of us just need to focus on our own lives.

i love your videos and the way you talk about different topics but I wonder if you had considered different lighting or background for the videos? I think I have a very similar skin tone to you to try the products you use but kinda hard to tell sometimes cus of thebackgrounds. Keep up the videos!:)

This was a great video. You touched on some great topics. I get asked constantly about when I'm going to have a baby. Even by people who know our daughter died during delivery and that I almost died too. We were lucky to get pregnant once and these questions are incredibly intrusive, insensitive and hurtful.

Today while bathing i was lost in same thoughts. I am not married yet but i was pondering upon this issue as to how personal these things are. And how people openly ask about your family planning scene. This is awkward and up too personal to be talking about this thing. Somehow it is insensitive as well. And it doesn't end after having a child. After the child is a couple of yrs old . People again start asking why they should be having a second child too. I mean come on. Take a chill pill and let people live their lives the way they want. 😵🤒🤬😵😡

Hi Jovita, it's empowering hearing you standing up to the pressures we face as women in our community whilst sharing your experiences! I too had my fair share of abuse from people I know and from strangers for not beginning a family, quick enough.. We, me and my husband were trying for eight years via natural and assisted treatments that were not successful.. the treatments were tightly scheduled back to back and were strenuous on our pockets and emotionally draining too, leave alone the waiting game.. Having to bear all of these setbacks and the constant questioning from people, we withdrew interaction and communication with such people. When I finally conceived Punky in 2012, we didn't feel the need to share much about my pregnancy as we didn't want to jinx it. Wait for it.. Eventually, when Punky arrived we got to hearing about rumours going around that we had adopted our child.. 😣 You would think that it ends here, sadly no.. now, it's questions about our next one, 'when I'm returning to the workforce', 'why need to make KZbin videos' when these are obviously not their concerns.. anyhoo.. Long story short; everyone will always have something to say about you.. just don't let it get to you!

I completely agree with you!!!! I love this video! My family and friends do the same thing to me, it's honestly so annoying. My husband and I have only been married for a year, we wanna travel and spend time together before we grow our family you know. Some times I just wanna tell people to mind their own busy and worry about their own lives! Geeeeezzz! Seriously!

you have chattily addressed an issue here. constant questioning about marriage, babies etc etc etc etc can bog anyone down. the society has too many expectations from women because since ages women decided to take those pressures and care less about individual freedom. time for perceptions to change!! more power to you!!!
