Although many travellers have now abandoned life on the road in favour of permanent homes, a small number continue to roam the country, pitching up in public parks and on roadsides.
But their presence is very rarely welcome and many are forced to spend their lives on the run from local councils in defiance of the law.

Yes he showed himself for sure. I also have huge issues with putting fake nails on that toddler. Nail places should have an age requirement for anything other than paint on thier nails, no matter parental permission. It should be 14 at the very least in my opinion.

@@amandab8433 wow divorced was she disowned by the community afterwards ?? i also hate how they treat the girls like they are possessions rather thank people and they are made to belive that they are worthless if they are not married at a very young age its disgusting and disturbing behaviour. Also they always say they show their love etc by getting married some of these girls have no idea who they are getting married to as they only met them 6 weeks before the wedding thats not love plus at 15 / 16 what do these teens know about love and adult relationships many are still acting like children yes they are children in many ways plus the girls have no education so if they did want out how can they make it alone,?? she would be rejected by her people and would have to support herself and probably a brood of kids since thats their purpose in life get married young have as many kids as possible and be a slave to her husband, they are not allowed a education as in their culture she doesnt need one as shes isnt allowed to work so she is basically raised to be stuck in a world where she has no rights and has no chance of bettering herself and she has to be totally supported by her husband if she wants out she is rejected by everyone and then left to fend for herself.😳 Personally i think its crazy and just like any abusive relationship they are isolated from every day life and cant do anything for herself. I knew a girl on school from a traveling family when she was 14 her parents wanted her to leave school she didnt want that she told me when she was 16 if my parents had their way id be like my sister with no education married at 15 and stuck at home with a guy who grabbed me at a party therefore because her wanted her she had to marry him, she didnt even know his full name when they got married a week later, she had no choice now she has 3 kids to a man she hates but she cant escape as divorce is bad and she will be rejected by everyone so im staying in school if they like it or not as far as they know im out somewhere with froends they dont know im here, i will finish school and i will get a job so i can support myself and help get my sister out. By then we will be both rejected me because i stayed in school my sister because she wants a divorce. I refuse to go to family get yogethers as im scared to death that some guy will grab me then id be forced to marry him if i have to go i hide the whole time. One guy did try to grab me once i told him i was taken so dont think about it touching me thankfully he belueved me ive learnt how to make myself vomit so when there is a event i start a few days before been sick that way I can stay home my parents have no idea im faking. She got all her gcses and she got high marks the day we got our exam results was the day her parents found out shed been in school as her tteacher called her parents to tell them how proud she was, oh all hell broke out her teacher felt so bad after, thankfully she had already got herself a job, folled in all the forms to get benifits and found a hoyse to stay in so when her parents told her she had to choose between her getting married or been rejected she said and i quote great thanks for giving me a choice in what I want to do in my life , that new I've never had a choice before, well i choose option 2 ive already packed and i already have a new home set up and by the way im taking my sister with me, since you are more worried about your reputation than you are about your daughter who is beaten by the bastard you made her marry, seriously he grabbed her at a wedding sexually assaulted her and you said aww thats so nice look hes showing affection toward you, do you know how fucked up that is , and now he beats her every day have you seen the bruises all up her back ,legs ,arms etc oh of course not because she has to hide them so your reputation stay intact, he been cheating on her since day one, he rapes her and all you said was you can't be raped by your husband he has a right to do that to you, well screw your reputation and screw you, i refuse to stand by and watch my sister who i love more than anything be beaten and raped anymore you made her marry that bastard when she was 15 and he was 19 all because he said i want her, you made it out that sexual assault was as romantic as if hed arranged a candle lit dinner in a fancy restaurant, you are disgusting, you are failures at been parents and most of all you are from now on no longer my parents or her parents, with that she pucked up her bags and walked out she went two doors down knowing her sisters husband was away on some horse show thing she helped her pack up her and the kids belongings shed hired a van and had a trusted friend help her and drive it her parents didnt try stop themas they belived her sister would never leave her husband knowing they would be rejected and disowned lol. Her sister knowing the plan had started packing the day before as soon as he left and he wasn't due back for two days within 3 hours she had packed up all her things and all the kids stuff including toys etc are just left his stuff behind since she didn't own anything all the house stuff was also left behind then they left she left a note saying she wouldn't be back and don't look for them, she left all the credit cards etc saying she hadnt taken any money, she also said she was keeping the rings as her solicitor said that was fine so she was keeping them as compensation for everything he put her through, she locked the door and posted the keys. The first thing she did was pawn them they were expensive rings both platinum and diamond and she got several thousand for them the furst money she had ever had that was her own. Then they drove to their new home they didn't give the address to anyone although their phones soon started blowing up as her parents went to the sisters house to give her something and since there was no answer they let themselves in with their key and say the note and that everything belonging to her and the kids gone they were furious they told the husband and he was sending threatening calls and messages she blocked the numbers then turned her phone off when they got the house sorted they went shopping and the sister got them both new phones so they couldn't be tracked and posted their phones back to him with a joke saying here is your phone back since you paid for it you can have my sisters too now I don't have to listen to or read anything from you again now stop trying to find me or I will get you arrested as for something you don't know everytime you hit me I took photos of the result and gave them to the police telling them keep them on file for after I escape so they have over a years worth of evidence so has my solicitor so you will never see me or the kids again and by 5pm tonight ( she posted next day signed for delivery ) you will receive both a restraing order, divorce papers and papers stating you hand over all parent responsibility to me just signed them and get ut over with the courts have all the evidence so I get the kids you don't get to see them ever and I've told them I don't want a penny from you as I don't want anything to do with you so sign it and get on with your life, and dont bother harassing my parents they disowned us and have no idea where I am so its not worth you trying to find me as i am way way out of your reach and you will never find me. They had moved 4 hours away and we stayed in touch for a while bith had jobs the kids were in school all of them changed their names so they couldn't be found, and all of them were very happy the husband did sign everything so that was good that he didn't cause issue but he probably did it to avoid going to prison again as she did say she would press charges he had a choice sign the papers or face 15-20 years in prison if he didn't nice bit of blackmail 🤣🤣

I agree. There are some huge red flags. The whole “ she doesn’t really have a choice when she talks about nit wanting a ton of kids”. Then he tells her to shut up over and over and raises his hand to her. She even backs away showing that she does not 100% trust him. ! This girl is going to marry this dill hole. And he’s going to emotionally,verbally, and quite possibly physically abuse her. And then under the guise of “gypsy’s don’t divorce, they work it out” and having no Skills and no money, she’s trapped to remain in servitude to an abusive husband. Great culture,...not! There is no part of this culture that should be envied.

Im middle-eastern and my family's views are very much aligned. All of it was designed to keep us unempowered and reliant on men. From the age of 5 i was talked to about learning to cook and clean so i would be a good wife and bring my family honor. If I misbehaved, my father, younger brother, and eventually my husband would be fully entitled to use physical force. (Not all middle-eastern families are like mine of course). I ran away at 16, with my American boyfriend (now husband of 25 years), finished high school, went to college, and am an IT Executive. I wish these girls knew what they are capable of. Leaving home was the best thing I could have ever done for myself, my daughter, and the future girls in our family.

I didn't even catch the toddler drinking Red Bull. I drank soda as a toddler, but didn't drink an energy drink until I was 7. Even then it was because at the time it was me, my 12 year old brother, and my dad trying to raised the two of us alone while grieving. They were around and I thought it was just soda in a different kinda can. Now when I look back I cringe a bit about how I would drink around 2 energy drinks as a kid because no one was there to stop me and I'd fight my brother about it if he said no, but I know that at least in my family's case my dad was trying his best. He got remarried within a couple years and got his shit together. Now my little sister (half sister, but I don't concern myself with halfs, she's just my sister) isn't allowed to drink any soda. She's 13 and still hasn't had a drop of soda past 7up or ginger ale when trying to settle her stomach. Meanwhile I'm sitting here typing this with a sugar free Mount Dew and a cup of cold brew next to me.

I just can't stand people who know the rules and still try to skirt around them. literally in the beginning, they said they just got evicted from their last place and council already clocked them at the new one, and they know they're gonna get evicted again, but they're still going at it. clearly they don't want you doing this and there's just zero regard.

For those who ask why aren't they given a spot to stay, here's a few bits of information that they've said in other videos that probably sum it up. *They are called travelers because their culture tells them to be nomads, even if they hay a spot where they could park, they would move again in a few months. *It's been noted that they do not want to pay taxes, so even if they had land they could stay in, they wouldn't want to pay housing or city taxes. *Most children don't finish their education, since it is required by law that children attend to school, it is easier to get the kids pulled out of school if they don't have an address to report and schools usually assume they moved again. *Because of their way of life and their reputation for trashing places, people don't want them as neighbors since their presence alone decreases the value of their property. *They usually own businesses and moving allows them to get clients before people find out they are gypsies/travelers. Of course these are observations made by the people on the videos and while there are unproblematic members of the community out there, this show is about those who for the stereotypes.

Travellers have been here since the Great Fire of London , they were instrumental in rebuilding. When King William of Orange sent from Holland to be the British King - he sent protestants to invade Eire, many fled Eire (Catholics) to the UK , Meanwhile Roma came to the UK in the 1500s , welcomed and then like travellers persecuted. They "travelled to stop themselves being killed by the establishment. Even catching a rabbit could see them hung or deported to Australia. There is always a back story.

I once did speak to a Dutch traveller who had studied economics in the university. He was kicked out of the camp for betraying his social status. He was not supposed to study, and his parents were also expelled. I do not know how that would work out nowadays, but back in the 70s it was next to impossible for a Dutch traveller doing something else but being a roofer or executing such a profession, mostly while receiving money from the state, working illegally and not paying taxes, but expecting being respected.

Jimmy can afford gastric bypass but not a house? That makes total sense 😒 Helen seems like such a sweet girl, she shouldn't have got married to him that quick, he is a right piece of trash. And how do the kids do school? Why aren't they taken!
@genevahodge2184
@genevahodge2184 Жыл бұрын
Jimmy doesn't want a house, that's something that they are against. Helen wanted to marry him unfortunately that's taught to them and is reinforced by their society and culture to do that. And the kids don't finish school they leave school very early. And it's hard to take away kids you can't find, they move way too much. It is also not easy to take away a child there are more things that go into doing that than them not being in school, but the parents do have to go to court for it often.

These communities need to be helped with the full force of a new law. Their human rights often conflict with local communities. I have first hand experience when our community was invaded with their illegal occupation on our parks and car park. Their children stole from our Tesco. They weed and shitted all aound our grass and left a dump of rubbish. Disgust and filths left all round fields with human and biological wastes in forms of liquids and foods. They wondered around our lawns and tried to get in our doors and windows to steal.
