@estefaniac233
@estefaniac233 2 жыл бұрын
@@maliaferry8212 no, the periods completely stop and the pregnancy tests come up positive. In my mother's case she wanted to be a mother so bad that her body started producing pregnancy hormones without actually being pregnant. In that case the only way to confirm is to do an ultrasound (which back in the early 80's in a third world country were very rare), so she was around 5 months "along" when she found out.

Actually, plenty of women go their entire pregnancies without medical care. That number's only likely to increase, if abortions get banned. Many women have a - in some ways justified - mistrust of doctors, due to the fact that lots of women DO get mistreated by them. The Husband Stitch (having your vagina intentionally sewn tighter than it originally was, often without the patient's knowledge or consent, and often resulting in sex being painful or impossible) is a good example of this. Bad things DO happen to women when they're pregnant/giving birth, and that's because doctors are human beings just like anyone else, and some of them are sexist. With that said, any good medical professional should recognise the very valid reasons that a pregnant women might be concerned about seeking medical treatment - while still encouraging them to do so. Because ultimately that is better for them than not having a doctor at all.

@@cintiabutlers4724 I had to ask a lot questions. It's called an anembryonic pregnancy. Sometimes the baby stops growing very early, sometimes there's no baby. They think it is due to genetic deformity. The body can tell there is something wrong with the cells in the sperm or egg, and it halts the process. With Blighted Ovum there is only a gestational sac. This is due to the egg being reabsorbed or deteriorating. In both cases, the egg was fertilized and you would still have the pregnancy hormone in your blood stream. With a "hysterical" pregnancy you were never pregnant to begin with, so no hormone.

The womb would respond as if pregnant. I lost my embryo at 20 weeks in the gynecologist office. Was not a cancerous tumor. So, my thought , there are more explanations than hysterical pregnancy… but I didn’t write the script

Back in 80’s my across the street neighbor was pregnant .She and her husband where so happy to finally get pregnant . All their family and friends also ,where happy for them .She was wearing maternity clothes and her stomach was growing nicely . Since her husband worked out of the city , she come one day to my home and asked if I could accompany her to her doctor’s ( gynecologist ) office .I went there with her .On the way to the doctor office she appeared unwell and upset .At doctors I was told she needs to stay and I don’t need to keep waiting in waiting room . So I went home , I checked on her later but she did not come to her home .I considered she stayed at hospital or at her mom’s. Few days later I learned doctors kept her hospitalized . For over 2 months she never come to her home . There was no one to ask about her situation. Than she appeared …very skinny , wearing skinny pants , did not appear as pregnant or as mom who just delivered a child . She was not open to share what actually took place and I respected this , I never asked . I assumed it was fake pregnancy .😥😥😥 Years passed ,they never got any babies 😥but she is strong women ! 💖She find herself nice job at children daycare where she enjoyed loving and taking care of kids .So , she is now retired , she have many kids who she helped and took loving care at her daycare job .

Pregnancy is a wild hormonal rush, and even when we think and perceive that we are in control, conditions like these reveal that it can change in a manner of moments. Real-life cases often have women really firmly believe that they are having the baby and that they just "know", particularly those who have a stronger sense of "self" and rely on their gut intuition. Yes her mind tricked her, but she more than likely didn't even know since it couldn't fathom the possibility of not being pregnant as an option. I firmly agree and give my condolences to sufferers of this tragic illness.

By the grace of God she made it to her 8th month where she decided if it was safe to have a c-section for safety reasons. Baby girl was a little underweight for a normal 8th month but very healthy. 3 years later she found out that she was pregnant again with her son. Baby went full term, was healthy and she decided to have everything removed as she had miscarriage 7 times before her daughter was born and since she had 2 wonderful and healthy kids and she was close to 40 she wasn't gonna risk the chance of another miscarriage or her dying and leaving her kids with out a mom. It’s not in any textbook. This is why working in the field is important regardless of occupation. I think she apologized because she froze when giving the diagnosis. @potocatepetl
@potocatepetl 2 жыл бұрын
Doctors have to be succinct and confident when speaking with a patient. No needless, lengthy and confusing introductions. If the patient needs additional explanations afterwards, sure, but she should have started with the result: "I am sorry, but upon reviewing the ultrasound and blood work, we determined that you are not pregnant and you never were. This is called so and so and can appear in some patients bla bla bla". Think about how you would feel and what would go through your head if you were her and a doctor would start speaking like she did. You'd think of everything from the baby is dead to the baby is underdeveloped to the baby has some serious health issues to we have to induce birth here and now. One should never give someone this time to think and panic. Now Dr. Reese is young and still has time to learn, but I doubt that no one told her how to speak with a patient. This is pretty much one of the first things one learns in a hospital. Be direct, brief and clear.

My aunt suffered a lot for 12 years and finally had a kid. It is also important to seek medical care. What is "natural"? We have our phones near us and all kinds of waves surrounding us. There is nothing wrong is using ultrasound to check on the baby. There is nothing wrong in taking an epidural. I think ultrasounds also helps us bond with the baby, especially the fathers. Unnecessary ultrasounds are risky, so they discourage ultrasounds just to get early baby pictures. Like X-rays, they’re potentially harmful if you get a lot of them, but the benefits outweigh the risks. Ultrasounds can identify fetal abnormalities that are fixable early enough to fix them. They’re a lot less dangerous than pregnancy and childbirth.

The lady said after an amniocentesis, her friend's kid was miscarried, so it could be that she dodged ultrasounds since the beginning. It could be that she pretended to go to those doctors appointments and came up with a way to get the ultrasound pictures too. You cant ever know how a woman whose 7 months pregnant was never told she wasn't pregnant because some of her actions to prevent being told could've been subconscious. Mental illness is a strange, sometimes unprecedented, thing that can take over the whole body in certain scenarios.

You can do and say EVERYTHING right, and still people will have violent outbursts of grief like this...and thats a hard lesson for anyone looking to give aid and comfort to the mind. Did the doctor set her up for this? I think so. I haven't watched the whole episode, but I have a feeling he was letting her experience a very hard lesson about her job. Deep trauma and grief is...horrible. Its like a wound that, if not correctly treated, heals poorly and restricts proper blood flow. And in this situation, Dr. Reese had no choice but to open the wound and let it flow out until the doctors could help it heal correctly.

I get that she wants a kid but how about CONFIRMING you're going to have one? 'Natural as possible' got her this. Idk why these people refuse basic medical care and get upset when they find out they have no idea what is actually happening to them or their, apparently, very important fetus. Do what makes you happy comes with parameters, you need to actually take care.

The human brain is a ridiculously complex thing. She wanted a baby, so she convinced herself she had one. Her body followed suit. Why would she think anything was wrong when her body did something so natural?

Natural as possible, and yet these people likely circumcise their kids as soon as they pop out.

I’m OBGYN ultrasound tech and I’ve seen so many moms come in just to have some ultraound pics of their babies not knowing that this is about medical condition of their babies, it’s not like a photo service. They come in for a late scan and some even found out the baby has some abnormalities when they should have come in their early gestational age.

@@thythyy7633 Yes you are right. It is highly advised that once you find out you are pregnant, you should visit an obstetrician/gynecologist's office within three months (at the end of the first trimester). The doctor will do a blood test to: A. confirm that you are actually pregnant B. look for any abnormalities in your blood or ultrasound C. generally see how the pregnancy is coming along (if you have severe morning sickness etc...) Some women like to do monthly visits but it's just for their peace of mind. The next visit should be around 6 months (end of the second trimester) and finally a week or two before the day of delivery to ensure there will not be any complications with the birthing process. Of course you are the expert but does that sound about right?

This happened to a woman I know. She had only one child, her 19 or 20 year old son was killed some high-school bullies.. they never got arrested. She almost lost it after her son's death. Few years later she thought she was pregnant, everywhere she went there was no baby they told her. She didn't want to believe, she thought she is 100% but they're making mistake. She said if in 9 months by her calculation she doesn't give birth then she she'll know she is not pregnant. Sadly that was the news for her 😢

@@catleigh1540 Sadly this was a real thing, probably still going on - people with hysterical pregnancy or other mental health issues now have online forums where they feed into the delusion and this has created this idea of extremely long pregnancies (often caused by hysterical pregnancy and then actually getting pregnant and delivering). I remember seeing a reddit post a while back from a guy desperately trying to understand what was going on with his wife, who then discovered she was on these forums constantly and in the grips of a massive delusion. I think he did manage to get her help in the end but people who sincerely believe they have been pregnant for years and just need to 'wait it out' are out there.

3 friggin years? an elephant's gestation period is about the two year mark. Thats the longest in mammals. I'm not saying this isn't a real thing. I'm saying 1 of 2 things are going on here. 1. Shes cuckoo for coco puffs and none of her friends questioned the clearly odd pregnant for eleventy billion years thing. or 2 "Dr." Phil should really get better writers, because damn. 😐
