I think the important thing about the music is you can see that it is played with passion and emotion, and not just fingered and bowed. You are an amazing artist and looked forward to hearing more of your pieces.

For those who have said that her version is too fast... much of Bach's work doesn't have a clear indication of tempo (as is the case of Cello Suite #1). Bach was a baroque composer- a period in music where pieces are notorious for being brisk. Because of that commonality, and after studying Bach's body of work, it can be assumed that this piece would follow that logic. All the harmony for Suite #1 has to be implied through clever arpeggiation and this effect wouldn't be as articulated if played too slowly. Momentum is required to make sense of this particular Bach composition and to help it flow. In my personal opinion, this is one of the most lovely renditions of this piece. The tempo is just right for me. Too many cellists also keep their bowing detached, which I feel lessens the intensity and emotion behind this beautiful and well-known cello suite. This is quite close to perfect. Her phrasing and intonation is just amazing. Very well done.

what I wish were true... I wish you were my Shanghai Baby... but, I'm not coming on, I'm an old married man living in the Republic of Texas. I saw the you and Joe doing Woke Up Dreaming and flipped out! I have been bragging on you and telling people you are magic... but, it's not true. If you were magic it would be easy. You are a gifted and talented cellist that knows how to work. And, above it all you have an anointing from God to make music that pleases His Sacred Heart. Thank you from the bottom of my heart Ms. Tina Guo.

+Tina Guo :3 agreed when somone's playing its his emotions and his feelings who detrmine the piece played , you can still play the same notes but not get same effects :) i like this though

+Tina Guo I thought it was played beautifully and as a fellow cellist was in awe at the end. Well done!
@XxGamerCouncilxX7 жыл бұрын
Dalton Bridevaux There is a distinct difference between musicality and immaturity of expression. When a student rushes in the bach suites, you give them a metronome until they've learned the piece correctly. After that point they are free to stretch the tempo or even change it outright. That is not the same as rushing. This interpretation is defined by a robotic acceleration in tempo and phrasing. Simply put: Learn your instrument then be a musician

Former French horn player here, although cello is my favorite stringed instrument! If I'd have had the chance,the cello would have been my choice! The Horn and the Cello are soulmates to my ears, they are so beautiful! Use to love string quartets ,accompanied by French horn! When I die,I hope the soundtrack of my eternity is on French horn and Cello!!!

I got a cello last week, and signed up for lessons right away. I had my first lesson today and couldn't believe how hard it was. We spent an hour and a half trying to just hold the bow correctly. By the end, my arm was shaking and I was gripping the frog between my fingers so hard the blood was gone. The teacher was holding up my arm and had her other hand under my wrist to remind me to keep it up close to the cello and drop it further out. Wow.. If I can actually hold the bow by Christmas, it'll be a good bit of progress.. If I can play hot cross buns by this time next year, it'll be a miracle.... haha. It *is* fun though, in a weird way.

You get really good, pure tone out of your instrument on the prelude. On the C, too. Now, I've heard other professionals honk out whole measures of the prelude even though they slur almost every one. Maisky, though amazing, does it. Kliegel, too, comes to mind. But you, what's the secret to your amazing tone? It's really pure and strong.
